v1.0.0
The first release of ATerm — an agentic terminal with a built-in AI coding assistant, like having Claude Code / GitHub Copilot CLI / Codex built directly into your terminal.
What is ATerm?
ATerm is not just a terminal with AI chat. It's a full-featured AI agent that lives in your terminal. Type @ and the agent can:
- Read and search your codebase — glob, grep, read files autonomously
- Execute shell commands — run builds, tests, git operations on your behalf
- Self-correct — detect errors in tool output and automatically retry with fixes
- Understand context — shell integration gives the agent awareness of your working directory, command history, and terminal state
Think of it as Claude Code meets your everyday terminal — SSH, serial, telnet, tabs, color schemes, all the terminal features you need, plus an AI agent that can actually do things.
Highlights
- Agentic AI — Not a chatbot. An autonomous agent with tool use, structured output, and iterative problem-solving.
- One-keystroke activation — Type @ to invoke the agent. No separate app, no context switching.
- Shell-aware — The agent sees your shell context and can pick up where you left off.
- Multi-platform — Windows (x64, arm64), macOS (x86_64, arm64), Linux (x64).
- Full terminal — SSH, serial port, telnet, local shell, tabs, customizable themes, clickable links.
