Try the new installer

Download facet-installer-1.0.4.zip, extract it, then run:

• Windows PowerShell 5.1 or PowerShell 7: ./install.ps1
• Linux/macOS: bash ./install.sh

The website one-liners will be updated to this package after publication.

What changed

• Arrow-key CLI/action choices and Space-toggle optional production tools.
• Three numbered stages, completed-answer summaries, concise progress, retained logs, and plain-mode fallback.
• Add components, repair, and update workflows with isolated replacement runtimes and preservation of working project bindings on failure.
• Reuse of configured dependencies, verified archive caching, and download retries.
• Windows PowerShell 5.1 compatibility and a POSIX-shell bootstrap.

Existing v1.0.3 projects

Select the same CLI and project folder. Agree to the explicit legacy migration prompt to retain the original integration in a .facet-backup-* folder, then choose update to switch to v1.0.4. The old runtime remains available. Do not delete your existing project or configuration.

For scripted migration, use -MigrateLegacy -Action update on Windows or --migrate-legacy --action update on Linux/macOS with explicit target/project options.

Use -Plain / --plain if terminal cursor controls do not display correctly. Windows rich-menu rendering is available for user acceptance; automated Windows lifecycle checks cover PowerShell 5.1 and 7. Native Unix menu checks run on Linux and macOS.

Validation and scope

• Six native OS/architecture build and package lanes.
• Lifecycle tests on Windows x64, Linux x64/ARM64, and macOS x64/ARM64, including repair, rerun, ownership preservation, migration backups, and failed dependency additions.
• Clean Ubuntu Docker installation with all optional components and real Remotion/HyperFrames rendering and Piper speech.
• Windows ARM64 has binary/package checks, not full installer/media acceptance; Piper is unavailable there.
• Automatic Linux dependency provisioning targets apt-based distributions. Uninstall is not implemented. External paid generation is not certified by installer tests.

Facet Standalone remains experimental; agentic CLI use is recommended.

Install for your agentic CLI

Download facet-installer-1.0.3.zip, extract it, and open a terminal in that folder:

• Windows (PowerShell 7): pwsh -File ./install.ps1
• Linux / macOS: bash ./install.sh

Select OpenCode, Codex, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot CLI, a project directory, and optional production dependencies. Keep the included installer/ directory beside the scripts.

The installer downloads the matching prebuilt product bundle and verifies its checksum. Optional dependencies include Remotion, Piper, gflow, and HyperFrames. Installation is owned entirely by scripts, separate from the production application.

Facet Standalone is experimental. For now, we recommend using Facet through a supported agentic CLI.

Local editing and rendering do not require media-provider API keys. Optional generation services may require separate credentials, account access, or credits. Tools report missing configuration when used.

Validation

• Native builds and package checks passed for Windows, Linux, and macOS on x64 and ARM64.
• Script installation, four-host placement, checksum/archive rejection, conflict preservation, and local media checks passed on Linux x64/ARM64, macOS x64/ARM64, and Windows x64.
• Clean Ubuntu 24.04 Docker installation passed with all optional components, including real Remotion and HyperFrames rendering and Piper speech.
• Windows ARM64 has native binary/package checks, but full installer/media acceptance is not claimed. Piper is unavailable on Windows ARM64.
• External paid generation and all optional-renderer/platform combinations are not certified.

SHA-256 checksums for every download are in SHA256SUMS.txt. Existing project integrations are preserved; automatic update/uninstall is not included in this first script installer.

Facet v1.0.2 — Embedded agent runtime and standalone production workbench

Facet's capability is the product; conversation and views are ways to operate it.

Highlights

• Embed Facet Studio kernel v1.0.0 directly in Go; remove the sibling replace dependency.
• Load canonical Facet guidance, selected packs and native video tools into the embedded runtime.
• Discover free-model providers and catalogs through the kernel's modelservice and llmgw-core registry. Free-model availability is upstream-dependent, not guaranteed or hardcoded by Facet.
• Add Facet-owned model settings, persistent project conversations, streamed responses, cancellation and user approval presentation.
• Import source media; inspect and edit documents; render saved compositions; preview/download outputs; run technical reviews and record human acceptance against exact output hashes.
• Correct schema-default compatibility, silent graphics rendering, project isolation, duplicate project protection, unsaved-edit warnings, modal focus and selected-output review identity.
• Provide a headless facet-module entry point independent of the standalone UI/kernel.

Windows download
Extract facet-1.0.2-windows-amd64.zip and run bin\facet.exe ui.
Read START-HERE.txt. Media production needs FFmpeg/FFprobe and Node.js. Remotion dependencies and its headless browser are installed separately in bundle\remotion-composer with npm ci and npx remotion browser ensure.
The archive contains binaries, canonical assets and renderer source, not bundled model weights or provider credentials.

Verification

• Windows/Chrome: 20 standalone acceptance cases and 14 native browser regression checks passed; the packaged Windows binary was retested.
• Live-model UI journey passed captions, one-second silent source editing, a two-second 640x360/24fps silent Remotion title card, direct saved-composition rendering and supplied-audio mixing.
• Go short suite, Go vet, 88 launcher/UAT-fixture tests, 13 composer metadata/layout tests, TypeScript check, package-content/version checks and installer parser/preflight passed locally.
• Clean-tree release-harness Level 1 gate passed. This is not full release-harness certification.

Scope and limitations
Windows/Chrome is the live UAT platform. Paid generation, provider-specific OAuth sign-in, every capability pack, long-form production, Safari/Firefox and external CLI/full Studio-host journeys were not exhaustively accepted. Race detection was unavailable in the local Windows environment. Consult the linked CI run for Linux/Windows automation results.

Release is cut from staging. Unrelated branding commits on main are not included.
