What changed

  • Replaced the Fossprite logo with a more distinctive original design.
  • Updated the README branding image and refreshed its cache-busting URL.
  • No editor functionality or file-format behavior changed in this release.

Why this change

The previous logo was visually too similar to the Open Source Initiative (OSI) branding.
This release introduces a more distinct Fossprite identity to avoid visual confusion.

Compatibility

  • Existing Fossprite projects remain compatible.
  • No changes were made to the editor's file formats or core workflows.

Status

This is a beta release. Bugs and visual adjustments may still occur.

Highlights

  • Pixel-art drawing tools, selections, symmetry, pen-pressure options, and stroke stabilization
  • Multi-document editing with layers and animation frames
  • Animation preview and export workflows
  • Built-in palettes, sprite templates, and color tools
  • Image import/conversion and a broad range of pixel-art import/export formats
  • Local project saving, autosave/session recovery, keyboard shortcuts, themes, and multiple UI languages
  • A single-file HTML app designed to run client-side and offline

Format support can vary by format; see the README for implemented subsets and limitations.

Beta notice

Fossprite is still in beta. Bugs, rough edges, and format-compatibility issues may occur. Please keep backups of important artwork and verify exported files before relying on them.
