Academic Research Kernel 2.0.0 makes the existing deterministic 12-tool MCP runtime installable as a self-contained Python package. It adds the academic-research-kernel console command (--version, offline doctor, mcp), complete base statistical/schema dependencies, packaged resources and a locked isolated Hermes runtime.

Preserves all 13 skills, the academic-skills plugin identity, schema v1 contracts and Source Lineage License history. This release does not add a new research workflow engine.

Source and validation

  • Tag: v2.0.0.

  • Source tree: ee68447a193bf50261998a6d1832f2f6d43b8723.
  • Python: >=3.10,<3.15.
  • Pre-merge CI: 17 required jobs passed; one automatic Codex review completed with no findings. Ready did not duplicate CI.
  • Automatic main CI: all 18 jobs passed, including pinned Hermes tap lifecycle and current-upstream integration.
  • Local source suite: 979 passed, no skips; 40 executable fences. macOS Intel CI had 3 optional Torch skips because no supported wheel was available; the other platforms passed all 979 tests.
  • Linux/macOS/Windows fresh wheel, sdist and clean-cache uvx acceptance passed. Final tagged artifacts were rebuilt and separately accepted in fresh local environments outside the checkout.

Installation and publication status

The wheel and source distribution are attached below, together with release-manifest.json, SHA256SUMS and validated MCP Registry server.json.

PyPI 2.0.0 is published. Install and run:

uvx --python 3.12 academic-research-kernel@2.0.0 doctor
uvx --python 3.12 academic-research-kernel@2.0.0 mcp

The successful publication workflow verified the original GitHub Release artifacts, published them using PyPI Trusted Publishing, and passed the actual public package's clean-cache CLI/MCP acceptance: 12 tools, representative calls, arbitrary working directory, source independence and clean shutdown. Both public PyPI artifact hashes exactly match the attached release files.

The official MCP Registry lists io.github.xngg1021/academic-research-kernel version 2.0.0 as active and latest, published at 2026-09-21T06:31:06.636065Z. The attached server.json is the accepted metadata. GitHub, PyPI, public uvx and MCP Registry publication are complete; release-manifest.json records the evidence.
