Riplox for Windows.

Paste a link, pick a quality, keep the file. Works with YouTube, TikTok,
Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit and around a thousand other sites.

What you get

• No limits — no download caps, no daily quota, no paid tier, no account.
• No bundled software — the installer contains the app and nothing else.
• Plays anywhere — H.264 MP4 by default, so files open in Windows Media
  Player, WhatsApp and on phones without installing codecs. Turn the setting
  off if you would rather have maximum resolution.
• Updates itself — sites change how they serve video. When a link stops
  working, Settings → Download engine → Update usually fixes it without
  waiting for a new release.
• 4K / 1440p / 1080p / 720p / 480p / 360p, or MP3 audio.
• A queue with live speed and ETA.
• Playlists, your pick. Paste a playlist and every video is listed. Take
  the whole thing in one click, untick the ones you don't want, shift-click a
  range, filter a long list by title, or grab a single video straight from its
  row — no going back to the site to copy links one at a time.

Runs in the background

• Clipboard watching — copy a link anywhere and Riplox picks it up, even
  when the window is minimised or hidden in the tray.
• Global hotkey — grab the copied link without switching windows. If the
  default combination is already taken by another program, Riplox falls back
  to the next free one and shows you which one it got.
• Auto-download (off by default) — queue every copied link straight away
  at your default quality.
• Tray icon with the current progress in its tooltip, and a progress bar
  on the taskbar button while downloads run.
• Notifications when a download starts, finishes or fails. Click one to
  bring the window back.
• Closing the window hides Riplox to the tray so downloads keep running. Quit
  from the tray menu. Launching Riplox again while it is hidden brings that
  copy back rather than starting a second one.

Install

Download Riplox_Setup_v1.0.0.exe and run it. It installs for the current
user, so it does not ask for administrator rights.

Windows will likely show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. That
is SmartScreen reacting to a new installer it has not seen before, not a virus
warning. Choose More info → Run anyway.

Requires Windows 10 or 11 with the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is
already present on Windows 11 and on any Windows 10 with a current Edge.

Verify the download

Check it in PowerShell before running:

Get-FileHash .\Riplox_Setup_v1.0.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256

If the hash does not match, the file was not the one published here — delete
it. Only ever download Riplox from this releases page.

If YouTube asks you to "confirm you're not a bot"

YouTube shows this to connections it does not recognise. The fix is to give
Riplox your cookies.

Since Chrome 127 (July 2024), Chrome, Edge and Brave encrypt their cookie
database so only the browser itself can read it — closing the browser does
not help, and no downloader can get at those cookies any more.

So you have two working options:

1. Firefox — Settings → Use cookies from browser → firefox. This still
   works directly.
2. Any browser, via a cookies file — install a "Get cookies.txt" extension,
   export the cookies for the site, and point Settings → Cookies file at the
   exported .txt.

Heavy downloading on your own account can get that account limited, so a spare
account is the safer option.

Downloading is subject to the terms of the site you download from and to the
copyright of the material. Use it for content you own, content licensed for
reuse, or content you have permission to keep.

Riplox is not signed with a code-signing certificate yet, which is why
SmartScreen warns on first run. The SHA-256 above is how you confirm the file
is the published one.
