• The directory and branch name are cleaned of control characters before they are drawn.
• examples/report_progress.py drops a NaN or infinite percent instead of writing invalid JSON.

Fixes from a full code review.

• Settings: quick presses (or /statuspane while a press is in flight) no longer drop a change.
• Progress files: the card reads the 20 most recently written files, so old files left in the folder never crowd out a new source. Files up to 64 KB are read and their fields cut to length (they used to vanish above 4 KB).
• Robustness: a missing, unreadable or vanishing progress folder no longer stops the card from refreshing; the git branch refresh runs after the answer, off the turn's path, and not for subagents.
• Model names: ids without a minor version read right (claude-opus-4-20250514 → Opus 4).
• Plays well with other mods: whatever plugins beneath statuspane draw in the band stays, above the card; reports from other mods are capped at 20.
• STATUSPANE_PROGRESS_DIR expands ~ and must be absolute; falls back to USERPROFILE when there is no HOME.
• Layout: the buttons take a row of their own when the first line is too wide to share it; zero-width, line-separator and ALM characters are stripped from reported text.
• /statuspane says when the terminal is too narrow for the card.
• Example reporters check the id, cut fields to length, and never leave temp files behind.
