@xujialiu xujialiu released this 09 Sep 02:48
  • feat: Shift+W turns the word highlight on and off (#67)
  • feat: Speechify as a provider of its own (#79)
  • fix: the pane's dialogs center their button labels on macOS (#80)

v1.11.5

Go to reading position (Shift+Enter) now brings an EPUB or a web snapshot back to the sentence being read at once, playing or paused; before, the view returned only at the next sentence while playing and never while paused (#76).

v1.11.4

The reading guard's dialog can stop the players itself and let the change through; Shift+S stops Read Aloud in every tab; a reopened player no longer restarts its first sentence when the voice list lands (#71, #75).

v1.11.3

Cloudflare Workers AI joins as a provider of its own: Deepgram Aura and MeloTTS voices on an account ID and an API token, 10,000 free Neurons a day (#72, tutorial in tutorials/cloudflare-workers-ai.md).
The word and sentence highlight no longer vanish on an EPUB whose text is stored with decomposed diacritics, and a highlight hidden at Word comes back the moment the setting switches to Sentence (#74).
The README says which Azure voices highlight by sentence — the ones named MAI-Voice-2 — and what the Dragon Latest voices do ten seconds into a paragraph (#73, #69).

v1.11.2

@xujialiu xujialiu released this 07 Sep 03:40

Volume now runs 0–100%: the boost above 100% never got past Zotero's compressor and was cut (#66), and a level 1.11.1 stored above 100 settles to 100 at the first start. A boost that is actually heard is tracked in #70.

v1.11.1

@xujialiu xujialiu released this 06 Sep 14:32

A volume for Read Aloud of its own: a Volume setting under the Speed slider and Shift+↑ / Shift+↓, for every voice, Zotero's Standard and Premium included (#62).

v1.11.0

System voices on macOS, through say, with sentence highlighting (#23). The plugin's own icon in Tools → Plugins and the settings sidebar (#60). Every line the settings pane and the reader write now follows Zotero's language, Chinese included — connection results, the voice browser, the dialogs, the recorder, the Build line (#43, completing #30). No entry is written under a PDF's raw /Lang tag, and the restore Zotero skips after moving off it runs anyway (#59). The settings pane says why a local server or System voices are down (#47). A sample that fails after it starts is reported (#48). The two diagnostics say what they read (#39); the ? icons at the pane's own size (#53); the docs are a GitHub Pages site, https://xujialiu.github.io/Zotero-TTS/ (#57).

v1.10.14

@xujialiu xujialiu released this 06 Sep 04:10

The settings pane's side-by-side buttons stand apart on macOS (#56). On a Mac, every pair of buttons the plugin's settings put next to each other — a shortcut and its Clear, Enable and Test connection, Backup settings… and Restore settings…, the reading-position and WebDAV buttons — used to touch, and the ? beside Clear sat on the button's edge: Zotero's own macOS style pulls every button's margins in, and the plugin added no spacing of its own. They now stand as far apart as they do on Windows, and the ? has its air back. Nothing changes on Windows or Linux.

A voice server that stops answering no longer takes the other voices down with it, and Read Aloud no longer starts on one of Zotero's paid voices because of it (#55). Every time the Read Aloud player opens, the plugin asks each enabled provider for its voices. Until now one provider that neither answered nor failed — a Kokoro or Chatterbox asleep behind a tunnel, a VPN in the way, a flaky connection — held the whole list up for 30 seconds, after which every provider's voices were dropped, the ones that had answered included, and the player started on a Standard or Premium voice of Zotero's that spends credits. Now each provider gets 15 seconds on its own: one that has not answered is skipped for that open, its request is cancelled, the others' voices are listed as usual, and the player starts on your own voice. The provider that was skipped is named in Zotero's error console. When every provider is unreachable at once, Read Aloud still starts on Zotero's own voices and says so, as before.

v1.10.12

@xujialiu xujialiu released this 06 Sep 03:23

A document you delete for good loses its bookmark everywhere, and the shared positions file drops it (#51). With Sync reading positions between computers on, permanently deleting a document you had listened to — emptying the trash, clearing a duplicate — used to leave its reading position in the shared file forever: this computer kept re-uploading it until Zotero restarted, every computer then kept it through every merge, and cleaning the file by hand did not stick. Now the deletion takes the bookmark out at once, the next sync removes it from the shared file, and a copy that comes back from another computer is dropped again. Bookmarks of documents one computer simply does not have stay in the file for the computers that do, as before. Entries left behind by deletions made before this version leave the file only if you remove them by hand once; after that they stay gone.
