Tableau v2.2.1

@yashashwi-s yashashwi-s released this 31 Jul 10:28

Fixes a misleading update prompt: the footer's version slot was showing the available version rather than the one you are running, so it looked like you had already updated. The prompt now names both versions explicitly — "Update available — 2.1.0 → 2.2.0" — and the footer always shows your current build.

Tableau v2.2.0

Portable layout bundles. .tableau files now store positions relative to the screen, so a layout keeps its shape on a Mac with different displays. They can optionally carry app settings (shortcut, snapping, launch at login) — off by default on export and opt-in on import, so a shared layout never silently rebinds your global shortcut. Display bindings are dropped on import, since they fingerprint the exporting Mac's monitors.

Redesigned update flow. An available update now gets a proper banner with release notes and a one-click button, and the app opens Settings after updating to confirm the new version.

macOS 27 fixes. Menu bar photo thumbnails were invisible — macOS 27 no longer draws NSMenuItem.image in a status bar menu, so thumbnails now render as part of the title. Also removed two deprecated no-op calls.

Dark Mode adaptation now does something. It previously only adjusted the shadow and a border most people don't have. It now dims the photo so it doesn't glare at night and lends a hairline edge to borderless photos.

@yashashwi-s yashashwi-s released this 31 Jul 06:19

Snap to edges and alignment guides, animated GIF/APNG playback, a global show/hide hotkey, clipboard paste, drag-and-drop onto the menu bar icon, per-display memory, Space pinning, Dark Mode adaptation, .tableau layout export/import, VoiceOver support, and one-click in-app updates.

Also fixes a bug where window positions moved since the last explicit save were dropped on quit.
