OpenDM 0.1.1
The first public release of OpenDM, a free and open-source download manager for macOS and Windows, with the OpenDM Connect browser extension.
Downloads
- macOS 13 or later (Apple silicon and Intel):
OpenDM-0.1.1.dmg. Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally. - Windows 10 and 11:
OpenDM-0.1.1-x64-setup.exeorOpenDM-0.1.1-arm64-setup.exe. Installs per user, no administrator rights. The installer is not signed yet, so SmartScreen may ask you to confirm ("More info", then "Run anyway"). - Browser extension: OpenDM Connect is in review on the Chrome Web Store and addons.mozilla.org. Until it is listed, unzip
opendm-connect-0.1.0.zipand load the folder from your browser's extensions page with Developer mode on.
What it does
- Takes over downloads from the browser, with their cookies and referrer, so downloads behind a sign-in work too.
- Downloads each file over several connections, resumes after network drops and restarts, and retries a failed download on its own.
- Saves video and audio in the quality you choose, including HLS and DASH streams.
- Asks for the name and folder before a download starts (Download File Info), and shows a progress window for each download. Both can be turned off.
- Sorts files into folders by type, with speed limits, a scheduler, proxy support, saved site logins and refreshing of expired download addresses.
- Runs in the menu bar or tray, opens at login if you like, and checks for updates.
