@yay yay released this 15 Sep 12:21

AWDL Toggle 1.0.0

First public release of AWDL Toggle, a manual AWDL switch for macOS Control Center and the menu bar.

Features

  • On allows AWDL for AirDrop and Continuity.
  • Off continuously keeps awdl0 down, responding to network route changes when macOS tries to raise it again.
  • A persistent background helper stores the selected policy independently of the app and widget processes.
  • The setup window follows changes from the native controls automatically and reconnects when the helper restarts.
  • Matching antenna app icon, repair tools, and an uninstaller. No Game Mode or automatic application detection.

Downloads

Asset Purpose
AWDL-Toggle.pkg Full installer — use this for a first installation or upgrade.
AWDL-Toggle-Repair.pkg Repair an existing installation while preserving its setting.
AWDL-Toggle-Uninstall.pkg Remove the app and helper, and restore AWDL.
SHA256SUMS.txt SHA-256 checksums for the three packages.

Requires macOS 26 or later and administrator authentication. Binaries include Apple silicon and Intel architectures.

After installation, add AWDL through Control Center → Edit Controls. To put it in the menu bar, drag it there from the controls gallery while editing.

Signing and known limitations

  • The app is ad-hoc signed. These packages are not Developer ID signed or notarized; macOS may block downloaded packages. Build from source if preferred.
  • Turning AWDL off can make AirDrop and other AWDL-dependent features unavailable.
  • Remove AWDL placements from Control Center and the menu bar before uninstalling. macOS can retain disabled slots after removal. The removal package uses macOS Installer, which labels its action “Install.”
  • Live testing was performed on macOS 27. macOS 26 runtime remains unverified.

Validation

Universal Release build, monitor/parser tests (including 10,000 malformed-message probes), XPC request and observation tests, packaging checks, extracted package signatures, and modified-client rejection all passed for this release build. Logout, sleep/wake, and reboot checks also passed in maintainer testing, reported after publication. See updated validation details.
