Runner 0.18.2 is a feature release for macOS, Windows and Linux on top of 0.18.1. It brings Runner to Linux as a beta.

New

  • Linux beta. Runner now runs natively on Linux ARM64 and x86_64, with signed .deb and tarball packages. Settings → Updates verifies and installs new versions in place, and an opt-in systemd user service keeps runnerd running without the app. This is a beta: it has been tried on an Ubuntu 26.04 ARM64 virtual machine, while native hardware, x86_64 and other distributions are not yet verified. Please report what you find. (#823)

Bug fixes

  • Cancel restores Sign in. Pressing Cancel while signing in under Settings → Remote access now makes Sign in available again immediately. The abandoned attempt neither opens a browser nor interferes with a new sign-in, including one started in another window. (#1036, #1040)
  • Remote access errors show up right away. When remote access cannot start, signing in or out now reports the actual error on the Remote access card at once instead of waiting about 45 seconds. (#1036)

Nightly channel

  • Linux nightlies are published on the shared nightly prerelease alongside macOS and Windows, named Runner_nightly.<sha>.<stamp>_linux-<arm64|x64>.deb or .tar.gz so they appear after the macOS and Windows downloads. Linux nightly installs from before the rename do not see the renamed packages; reinstall once from the nightly page.

Download and upgrade

  • macOS, Apple Silicon: download Runner-0.18.2-arm64.dmg, or update through Sparkle. The app is signed and notarized.
  • Windows x64, Windows 10 version 1809 or later: download Runner-Setup-0.18.2.20261027.0516-x64.exe. The installer, app, and CLI sidecars are Authenticode-signed by Open Source Developer Yicheng Wang. You can also update through Settings → Updates → Update, then choose Install and restart. Settings, chats, and missions are retained.
  • Linux ARM64/x86_64 (beta): on Debian or Ubuntu, download Runner_0.18.2_linux-<arm64|x64>.deb and install it with sudo apt install ./Runner_0.18.2_linux-arm64.deb (or -x64). On other distributions, extract Runner_0.18.2_linux-<arm64|x64>.tar.gz and run its ./install.sh, which installs under ~/.local. Later updates come through Settings → Updates: tarball installations are replaced atomically, and deb installations ask for system authorization and install through APT. The opt-in user service is disabled on install, and uninstall retains user data. Each Linux package carries a matching minisign signature verified by the in-app updater.

Windows ARM64 and Intel Macs are not supported. Linux packages are built on Ubuntu 22.04 and need glibc 2.35 or later, Linux kernel 5.3 or later, and an EGL/Vulkan-capable graphics stack. Native acceptance on physical Linux hardware, on x86_64 and on distributions other than Ubuntu is still pending. Known issue: in some virtual machines, such as UTM with the Virtio-GPU Venus adapter, the window never appears; start Runner with software rendering instead: VK_LOADER_DRIVERS_DISABLE='*virtio*' LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 runner-app.

  • 远程访问错误即时显示。 远程访问无法启动时，登录或退出会立即在 Remote access 卡片上显示实际错误，而不是等待约 45 秒。(#1036)

Nightly 渠道

  • Linux nightly 现在与 macOS、Windows 一起发布在共享的 nightly 预发布中，文件名为 Runner_nightly.<sha>.<stamp>_linux-<arm64|x64>.deb 或 .tar.gz，排在 macOS 和 Windows 下载之后。改名前安装的 Linux nightly 无法发现改名后的包，请从 nightly 页面重新安装一次。
