Runner v0.4.2
Runner 0.4.2 makes the app pick up where you left off — agents come back on launch, and the CLIs behind them are now something you can see and fix from Settings.
What's New
- Agents settings pane. Settings → Agents shows exactly which
claudeandcodexbinary Runner will spawn, resolved against your real login-shellPATH, with a per-runtime override when discovery can't reproduce your environment. The shell probe no longer blocks startup or forgets what it found: it runs in the background, keeps its last known good result across launches, and can be re-run on demand after you install or upgrade a CLI. Version-manager installs (mise, asdf, volta, fnm, nvm, pnpm, Bun) are covered by the fallback path. A runtime that can't be resolved now fails before the terminal opens, naming the runtime, instead of printingcommand not foundinto a dead pane (#279). - Resume running agents on launch. Quitting used to kill every live agent and leave you to restart each one by hand. Runner now marks the sessions it stops at quit — direct chats and mission slots alike — and resumes them on next open, staggered, conversation intact. Only graceful quits are marked, so a crash never auto-respawns agents into whatever caused it, and a session whose resume key is gone stays stopped with its normal Resume button rather than starting a fresh conversation you didn't ask for. Toggle it off in Settings → General (#320).
Improvements
- Missions started over MCP now infer their project from the working directory when one isn't passed, so agent-started missions nest in the sidebar like the ones you start yourself (#350).
Bug Fixes
- Switching tabs no longer disturbs the terminal. Returning to a pane fired a forced resize even when nothing about the geometry had changed — two SIGWINCHes, a full agent repaint, and for Claude Code a scrollback purge on every single switch. Activation now pushes size only when the size actually changed; the forced repaint survives only where a pane's canvas genuinely went stale (#352).
- Sidebar project collapse survives restart. Collapsed projects came back expanded on every launch — the only sidebar state that didn't persist (#354).
- Terminals now fit against the renderer that will paint them, closing a window where a freshly activated pane could measure against stale geometry.
- Resumes interrupted mid-flight are preserved rather than dropped, so a launch that gets cut short doesn't lose the sessions it hadn't reached yet.
- Terminal frame and scrollbar rendering refined — no more stray strip along the right edge of a pane.
