Visual Gallery 0.1.19 — mobile support
Changes
- Enable installation on iPhone/iPad and Android; minimum Obsidian version 1.13.7.
- Mobile: tap to open; long-press to select and show actions; tap more cards to multi-select. Move selected items through the vault-folder picker with collision and nesting checks.
- Preserve scrolling/pinch gestures, desktop selection/drag behavior, native history and existing card styles. The header remains Create (+), Sort, Filter.
- Improve local Canvas/image/PDF compatibility: HTML image decoding fallback, correctly named PNG caches where WebP is unavailable, missing PDF API shims and bounded worker startup. Reduce mobile rendering concurrency and preview size.
- Translate mobile actions in all 18 interface languages. No remote thumbnail worker or telemetry.
Verification and limits
- 300 automated tests in 21 suites pass; GitHub CI passed and the staged build reproduces the tested main.js byte-for-byte.
- Official Obsidian 1.13.8 on Android phone/tablet emulators passed enablement, thumbnails, native menus, multi-selection/batch moves, cache cleanup/rebuild, offline process restart and both orientations. Real-host card geometry: 648 cases per device, no failures.
- iPhone/iPad simulator WebKit rendering and touch fixtures pass, but use substituted Obsidian APIs. This is NOT iOS Obsidian E2E. Physical devices, older OS/WebViews and full iOS Obsidian integration remain unverified; universal device compatibility is not claimed.
Install / update
Update through Obsidian Community plugins when the new version appears. For manual updates, use main.js, manifest.json and styles.css below and preserve your existing data.json. The PDF worker is bundled; no separate worker file is needed.
MIT licensed. Vault content and generated thumbnails stay local.
Visual Gallery 0.1.18
Changes since 0.1.14
- Compact icon toolbar: Create (+), Sort, Filter. The Create menu is ordered New note, New Canvas, New folder.
- Added New Canvas to the blank-area context menu and Show in Visual Gallery to the native file-explorer context menu.
- Fixed sparse-gallery filter clipping and kept the title and toolbar on one row without changing card widths.
- Added native pane Back/Forward navigation. Folder destinations use Obsidian leaf history, including the host mouse side-button path, and preserve visited sort/filter state.
- Existing card geometry, independent cover gradients, selection, and drag behavior are preserved.
Verification
- All 266 automated tests in 20 suites pass; a clean frozen-lockfile build reproduces main.js byte-for-byte.
- Installed-host CSS/icon browser layout checks passed; these fixtures are not native application E2E.
- Native history E2E and physical mouse side-button verification remain uncompleted.
Install / update
Desktop Obsidian 1.13.7 or newer. Update through Obsidian Community plugins when available. For a manual update, use main.js, manifest.json and styles.css from this release and preserve your existing data.json.
MIT licensed. Vault content and thumbnails stay local; no telemetry. The PDF worker is bundled.
Visual Gallery 0.1.14
Refined gallery layout, settings and localization. Includes all fixes since 0.1.10.
- Keep folder titles, filter and sort on one row even with zero or one card; preserve card/grid width.
- Restore independent sort/filter chevrons.
- Group settings into seven clear sections.
- Add complete interfaces in 18 languages, with live command/tooltips and accessible icon labels.
- Lock uniform outside card outlines across normal, selected and drop states.
- Keep folder artwork centered and folder/note light/dark colors independent.
- Hide Rename for multiple selections.
- Fix frozen native filename ghosts over folders.
Verified: 189 automated tests, clean reproducible build, and native Obsidian 1.13.7 toolbar, settings, sparse-layout, outline and drag-manager checks. Native drag regression uses synthetic events; full OS mouse-drag E2E is not claimed.
Desktop Obsidian 1.13.7+; MIT license. Download main.js, manifest.json and styles.css from this release for manual installation. Keep data.json when upgrading. No network requests or telemetry; PDF rendering remains self-contained.
See RELEASE_NOTES.md for full changes and verification details.
Visual Gallery 0.1.10
Fixes community-review blockers and updates the self-contained PDF thumbnail engine.
- PDF.js 5.4.624 with a bundled local module worker; no external script injection or worker download.
- Remote asset/optional Wasm loading and dynamic font evaluation disabled.
- Native Obsidian settings heading and safer file type checks.
- Tested in Obsidian 1.13.7: fresh PDF preview, cache reuse, and a three-file installation.
- 60 automated tests passed; clean build reproduces main.js byte-for-byte.
MIT license. Download the individual main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css assets for manual installation.
Visual Gallery 0.1.9
First public MIT-licensed release.
- Whole-Canvas thumbnails, Markdown/image covers and local PDF first-page previews.
- Folder navigation, six Obsidian-style sort options, multi-selection, marquee selection and drag-and-drop organization.
- Rename, delete, reveal in the system file manager, and create notes/folders from context menus.
- English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese interfaces; configurable appearance and icons.
- Local disposable cache with automatic stale-preview cleanup. No network requests, telemetry or account requirement.
Desktop Obsidian 1.13.7 or newer. Tested on macOS; Windows/Linux-specific file-manager behavior is not independently verified.
For manual installation, extract visual-gallery-0.1.9.zip and place its visual-gallery folder in your vault configuration/plugins folder, then enable Visual Gallery. The individual main.js, manifest.json and styles.css assets are provided for Obsidian installation; the PDF worker and license notices are embedded in main.js.
60 automated tests and clean reproducible build passed. Native Obsidian testing verified PDF preview generation and cache reuse with only the three standard plugin files installed. Canvas rendering is a simplified reconstruction, not an exact Canvas screenshot.
Community-directory submission is handled separately; this release alone does not imply directory approval.
