What's new in Sidedoor 0.2.3

• Single confirmation checkboxes get ticked. Some application forms end with one required box whose only option is its own statement, such as "I chose this role and personally reviewed this application...". Sidedoor's AI agreed to it, but the answer could never be entered, so the application retried every hour. Sidedoor now ticks the box. A lone "No" or "Decline" box is never ticked.
• A question that keeps failing comes to you. If Sidedoor's AI can't enter an answer on a form 3 times for the same question, the question appears on Approvals under Questions for you, with the form's own options: "Sidedoor's AI tried 3 times but couldn't enter an answer on the form. Pick the answer and Sidedoor will fill it in." Your answer is used for that application and saved for later ones. After 7 such failures Sidedoor stops trying that application and lists it on Failures as given up.
• Failures and Applications show every try. Failures shows the real number of tries for a question that keeps failing, and an application's History lists each one ("Try 3 failed: ..."). A given-up application says why once, then "Apply by hand if you want this one."

What's new in Sidedoor 0.2.2

• Keeps running after an update. Once you have clicked Start, Sidedoor starts working again by itself whenever it opens: after an update, a crash, or quitting and reopening. Pause still keeps it from starting new work.
• Email support is faster and handles sign-in. Sidedoor writes and saves the draft in the background, then opens it for you, in about 26 seconds. If your webmail needs you to sign in, the window waits up to 10 minutes for you. It picks your own account and skips optional prompts, and never types into a sign-in page. On Windows the draft window now stays open until you close it.
• Long application forms no longer run out of steps. The browser AI has no step limit when reading or filling a form, only its time limit. A form with many dropdowns used to stop partway.
• Failures shows more. Applications Sidedoor gave up on now appear on Failures, and failed tries that will be retried are counted there. Logs gets a plain line for each stop.
• Clearer application stops. A submit that stopped before anything was sent now says so, and is labelled "Waiting to retry".
• Review cards. A date question shows a date picker, and dropdowns no longer offer the form's "Select..." placeholder as a choice.
• Uploads on simple career pages. Sites whose file upload box doesn't show the file name no longer fail every upload.
• Rewritten notes aren't failures. A LinkedIn note that Sidedoor's check sent back for a rewrite is no longer listed on Failures. If the rewrites keep being rejected, Failures says so in plain words.
• More research. Research now looks at up to 60 companies a day across your industries, up to 20 for each.

What's new in Sidedoor 0.2.1

• Roles research rules out are no longer applied to. When research judges a role outside your search (for example, every location is outside your countries), Sidedoor now closes it as "Not eligible" with research's reason, before opening the application form. Before this, such a role could be queued, retried, and end up listed as a failure.
• Form reading builds on research. When Sidedoor reads an application form, it starts from research's verdict on level, field, funding stage and location, and says what changed if the posting says otherwise.

What's new in Sidedoor 0.2.0

• Review mode now holds everything that goes out. Invitations, messages, follow-ups, replies and job applications (email applications too) wait on the Approvals page until you approve them. You can edit every answer, the cover letter, and an email's subject and body before you approve; what you approve is exactly what gets submitted.
• Questions use the form's own controls. When Sidedoor asks you something, you get a date picker for a date, the form's options for a choice, checkboxes where you can pick several, and a "Required" marker. If a site still refuses an answer, the question comes back to you with the site's reason instead of using up tries.
• Choose which résumé is uploaded. Settings > Résumé lets you pick your original upload or the ATS version, and employers receive it under your own file name.
• Better answers on forms. "Open to relocating" now follows the places in your search, salaries are converted to the form's currency, and questions Sidedoor genuinely can't answer come to you instead of being guessed.
• Email support in one click. Next to Report a problem, "Email support" opens a ready-to-send email in your own webmail; you add anything else and press Send.
• A more colorful Overview, and "Needs you" only lists what actually needs you.
• Fewer false alarms. Research that is only waiting, or that stopped because you quit Sidedoor, no longer shows as a failure, and closed applications say exactly why they closed.

• The browser works out of sight. Sidedoor's Chrome now runs without a window, so it no longer pops up or pulls you away from what you're doing. When a site needs you (a human check), it shows the window briefly and then returns you to the app you were in.
• A redesigned dashboard. Every page is wider, tidier and easier to scan: Overview shows what needs you with one button each, Applications groups jobs into Needs you, In progress, Submitted and Closed, and Approvals cards are compact.
• Numbers you can trust. Every count and filter now matches the labels on the items it counts.
• Real reasons. Closed or given-up applications show the actual reason, not a general category.
• Smarter location judgment. A place in your search with hybrid or onsite means you're open to relocating there.

What's new

• Sidedoor asks you what only you can answer. When a job application asks something only you know (like your residency status or your GitHub profile), Sidedoor asks you under Approvals > Questions for you, with the form's own choices. Your answer is saved and reused, and you can see and edit your answers under Settings > Your saved answers.
• Email confirmations from your own webmail. Application confirmations are read from the webmail you picked in Setup (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Proton, AOL, Zoho or Fastmail), not only Gmail.
• Clearer health and networking. Overview's Health turns red or amber when your credits or usage run out or Codex is missing. Networking shows where each contact is: invited, accepted or follow-up due.
• Nothing is cut off. Every list on the Approvals, Failures and Logs pages pages through everything, and logs have "Older lines".

What's new

• The Failures page tells you the real reason. Every failure (research for each industry, outreach, replies, follow-ups, notes, applications, the contact finder and notifications) shows what actually went wrong, with a "See its log" link to that run's own files. No terminal commands needed.
• Running out of credits pauses work instead of failing it. When your OpenRouter credits run out, you hit the ChatGPT usage limit, or Codex goes missing, Sidedoor waits instead of giving up on anything, and a banner tells you what to do. The banner clears by itself once it is fixed.
• Mac: easier updates. "Update now" installs the new version in place (you click Replace), and opening a downloaded copy offers to replace the one in your Applications folder. Sidedoor checks for updates every 30 minutes, and Overview shows the version you have installed.

What's new

• Sidedoor finds Codex wherever you installed it. Homebrew (Apple chip or Intel Mac), npm, nvm, winget or Scoop all work, also when you open Sidedoor from the Dock or the Start menu, and Sidedoor runs Codex with Node available.
• Outreach notes are never sent cut off mid-sentence. A note that is too long goes back to the writer to be shortened, and unfinished text goes back to be finished.
• The send check no longer holds a message just because it is unsure. It must answer every question, and only a clear "no" holds a message.
• Windows: the app now carries its own version and text correctly. The 0.0.7 Windows build reported itself as 0.0.6.
