v0.3.1
Metroid Dread — recompiled for PC, v0.3.1
Work in progress. If something breaks, please open a bug report and attach the .log from the game folder.
On v0.3.0? Press UPDATE on the Play screen (a few MB), then REBUILD when it asks: setup changed, and the rebuild reuses everything already compiled, so it only takes a few seconds.
Fixed
- First-time setup stuck at 22% when the ExeFS files were in a folder shared with other files (for example a
roms\switchfolder with game dumps). Setup copied every file in that folder, gigabytes of them, with no progress shown. It now copies only the ExeFS's own files. - Cutscene music cutting out halfway, and cinematics running too fast and choppy, on new installations. The fix for this (Audio > Voice position fix at stream ends) was a setting, and it was off by default. It's now always on, and the setting is gone: there's nothing to switch.
- Stutter the first time effects appear, right after setup or a graphics driver update. The shaders built before playing were loaded again from disk at their first use (10–20 ms each on older cards, hundreds of times in a first session). They're now kept ready from the start.
- If Native Vulkan couldn't start on a PC, the game fell back to OpenGL but ran at around 20 FPS. It now falls back at full speed.
- The "Build all shaders before playing" setting now says it applies to OpenGL; Native Vulkan saves the shaders it builds as you play and reuses them.
