v0.5.1
Fixes
- First sync no longer stalls (#2). A fresh node asked one peer for everything, right when PyBitmessage peers ignore requests, and sat at "N objects downloading" for minutes. Downloads are now spread across peers; a new node syncs the whole network inventory (~13.5k objects) in about 4 minutes.
- Linux AppImage runs on older systems. It is now built on Ubuntu 22.04 (glibc 2.35) instead of 24.04, and renamed
ynotbit-x86_64.AppImage. - Letter sizes follow the protocol. Letters up to ~255 kB can be sent (was 200,000 bytes), and longer letters from other clients are no longer refused. Drafts may be larger still, so a reply that grew too big is kept, and its window always closes.
Writing letters
- Replies quote the letter, email-style with
>, in the same editor: quoted text can be edited but stays quoted. The reader shows quote levels as coloured bars; PyBitmessage's dash-separated history is understood too. - Paragraph types, MarkText-style: the mark beside each paragraph (¶, H1–H6, list, code) opens "Turn into", with Ctrl+Shift+0…6, Ctrl+H, Ctrl+G and friends.
- Cleaner composer: one Private/Public switch with its explanation beside it, From/To/Subject labels, a striped border for the kind of letter being written, a size meter, and Send as the main button. Formatting lives on the toolbar that appears over a selection.
Also
- Interface languages: 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Русский, Українська (Appearance → Language).
- Leaner Windows package.
