Constant Watch 0.2.0 adds local meeting transcripts and a shorter setup flow.

  • One Mac setup screen combines screen permissions and local model preparation. Existing Qwen installations are reused; installed Ollama engines are started automatically. Install Ollama once if it is missing. The journal can start while the model downloads.
  • Meeting detection prompts you to record; it never records automatically. Choose microphone, computer audio, or both. Computer audio includes all system sound.
  • Download Whisper base once (~150 MB) for local transcription after recording stops. Timestamped transcripts join the daily Markdown journal, search, and read-only MCP context. Audio is deleted after successful transcription unless you opt to keep it.

Downloads

  • Mac: Apple Silicon, macOS 14+. Drag Constant Watch to Applications. Developer ID signed, not notarized; macOS may block this preview.
  • Windows: Windows 11 x64. Run the per-user installer. Requires Microsoft Edge WebView2. Unsigned; SmartScreen may warn.
  • Python and speech libraries are bundled. Qwen (~1 GB) and Whisper weights download separately. No account required.
  • Quit the existing app before updating. Local journals and settings are preserved.

Preview limitations

Meeting detection relies on visible English call controls. Transcripts identify audio sources, not individual speakers. Live microphone and loopback capture still require real-device validation; this release is a preview. Speech recognition and summaries may contain errors.

Validation: 61 backend tests, packaged Mac service/MCP smoke checks, and an offline synthetic speech fixture. Windows installer validation runs in GitHub Actions. Source and license are available in this repository.

First open-source preview of Constant Watch, released under the MIT license.

Constant Watch turns visible screen text into a private daily journal, groups context by app, summarizes with local Qwen3.5 0.8B, and exposes read-only MCP tools.

Downloads

  • macOS: Apple Silicon, macOS 14+. Open the DMG and drag Constant Watch into Applications. Developer ID signed, not yet notarized.
  • Windows: Windows 11 Intel/AMD x64. Run Setup and open Constant Watch from Start. Unsigned preview; Windows SmartScreen may warn.

Both packages include Python and service dependencies. Ollama and model weights are separate first-run downloads. Windows also requires Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, normally included with Windows 11. Capture starts paused until you choose to enable it.

The transparent desktop orb intro and native day/week review interface are Mac-only. Windows includes guided setup, daily/app journals, search, source evidence, Markdown export, settings and MCP. Closing the Windows window stops capture; minimizing keeps it running.

These are the verified preview packages previously published on the project website. SHA-256 checksum files accompany both installers. Windows verification covered all 44 tests, actual accessibility/OCR against synthetic content, app exclusions, password fields, packaged desktop startup, installation, and all 11 MCP tools.

See README.md for building from source, data locations, privacy limits and configuration. Third-party dependencies retain their own licenses and notices.
