OpenBendy 1.0.4 - Book effect

Adds Book, a fifth desktop effect. The left half swings around a vertical spine and folds over the right, with perspective, crease shading, and a contact shadow. Select it in Appearance and try the angle slider or preview playback.

The existing Silk, Shade, Frost, and Arc styles remain available. All eleven tests pass, including Metal checks for the fold crossing and exact restoration.

Download OpenBendy-macOS-universal.zip, extract it, and replace your installed app. This universal build is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, with its notarization ticket attached. It requires macOS 14 or later. Enable Screen Recording in System Settings if macOS requests it.

OpenBendy 1.0.3 — Arc effect

Adds Arc, a fourth effect alongside Silk, Shade, and Frost.

Arc keeps the desktop at full height while curving its sides inward. The upper and middle content soften as the lid closes, while the outer top and bottom edges remain pinned and sharp. Select Appearance → Arc and use the existing Perspective, Variable blur, and Shadow controls to tune it.

The preview and live desktop share the same Metal shader. Saved style preferences support Arc, and existing styles remain available.

Download OpenBendy-macOS-universal.zip, extract it, and move OpenBendy.app to Applications. Requires macOS 14 or later. Apple silicon and Intel are included; physical lid support has only been verified on an M3 Pro MacBook Pro.

Existing installations may need Screen Recording permission re-enabled after updating. Open General → Allow Screen Recording, enable OpenBendy in System Settings, and relaunch if requested.

Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, with the notarization ticket attached. Gatekeeper assessment passes. Nine tests passed, including real Metal checks of Arc geometry, pinned edges, diffusion, resolution consistency, and exact restoration. Native style selection and preview playback were also checked. Physical-lid visual matching for Arc remains a user device check.

OpenBendy folds and progressively blurs your desktop as you close your MacBook lid.

Download OpenBendy-macOS-universal.zip, extract it, and move OpenBendy.app to Applications. Open General to grant Screen Recording permission, then enable the desktop effect.

This download is now Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. If you downloaded the earlier development-signed build, replace it with this download.
