What's new in v1.4.0

New

  • Secure multi-profile remote OCR for Alibaba Cloud, OpenAI, and image-capable OpenAI Chat Completions-compatible services; local OCR remains the default.
  • A dedicated Settings view for language and OCR profile management.
  • Library search, smoother multi-selection and batch actions.
  • Pause and resume controls for region recording.

Privacy and security

  • Every remote OCR request discloses the destination, model, and selected-image details, then requires an explicit Send or Retry action.
  • Remote failures never retry automatically, switch providers, or upload through a fallback.
  • API keys stay in macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.
  • FFmpeg is not bundled. On the first explicit recording or GIF conversion, Kiri downloads a version-pinned archive from the disclosed platform source, verifies its SHA-256, caches it locally, and keeps all encoding on-device.

Fixes and reliability

  • Escape reliably cancels capture and recording startup, including when a field has focus.
  • Capture selection no longer receives stacked or overly dark dimming.
  • Stable macOS development signing prevents repeated permission prompts across rebuilds.
  • Transparent app icons are generated and validated for both development and production builds.
  • Recording audio, cancellation, cleanup, and encoder fallback are more reliable across macOS and Windows.
  • Release builds now include Apple Silicon, Intel Mac, and Windows installers.
