Changes

  • Keep local live-caption history bounded during long sessions while preserving every emitted caption and overlap deduplication.
  • Fix HLS initialization URLs containing commas, reject broken playlists before they shift subtitle timing, and avoid repeated scans over missing segment URLs.
  • Refresh Koe's icon and use stronger ZIP compression.

Install or update

Download Koe-1.9.6-macOS-arm64.zip, fully extract it, and run Install Koe.command. Existing users can rerun the installer to update.

Supports Apple silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. The ZIP includes both the compatibility Helper and the macOS 26 Translation-enabled Helper. The Whisper model remains a separate first-use download.

The Helper is ad-hoc signed and is not Apple-notarized. If macOS blocks the installer, Control-click it, choose Open, and confirm.

Verification

Extension regressions, Helper core checks, release build, and package checks passed in CI. Both Helper variants passed local protocol and isolated installer checks. Real-video transcription and Apple language-pack translation were not rerun for this release.

What changed

  • Restores the managed Koe extension automatically after ego-lite restarts, so it no longer needs to be imported again.
  • Verifies the ego-lite publisher, fixed extension identity, managed path, version, and installed file hashes before restoring.
  • Adds a user-level disable command and keeps restoration isolated from browsing data and user pages.
  • Adds CI coverage for extension regressions, Helper core checks, and the exact release-package build.

  • Verified a real ego-lite cold restart: Koe 1.9.5 loaded into the new browser process and its popup remained available without re-importing.
  • Installed and revalidated this exact 1.9.5 package locally.

Install or update

Download Koe-1.9.5-macOS-arm64.zip, fully extract it, and run Install Koe.command. Existing 1.9.0-1.9.4 manual installations may need one normal ego-lite restart; if an old manually loaded path still appears, remove that old entry once and rerun the installer.

Distribution boundary

This is a developer-installable preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15 or later. The Helper is ad-hoc signed and the package is not Apple-notarized.
