fx-ui v0.2.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 10:16

What's new

  • The agent can commit. Ask it to commit and it uses a new commit tool that asks for your approval first, the same way an edit does, showing the message and which files change. It commits what's staged, or every change to tracked files when asked, and refuses if the staged changes move while you're deciding. It only commits in a workspace that is the root of its repository.
  • Notifications while fx is in the background. Turn on Notifications in Settings to get a macOS notification when a turn finishes, and one with a sound when a session is waiting for your approval. Off by default.

Fixes

  • The composer's controls line up with the text above them, the effort control fits its label instead of floating in empty space, and the placeholder sits centred in the input.
  • The sidebar is near-black again.
  • Model names no longer repeat the plan, so "Grok 4.7 Fast · Grok" reads "Grok 4.7 Fast".

The macOS installer is signed and notarized.

fx-ui v0.2.6

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 07:51

What's new

  • A refreshed interface. The app is now set in the system font, with a monospaced face kept for code, paths and commands. Surfaces sit on a few lifted greys instead of pure black, so the sidebar, conversation, cards and composer read as separate layers.
  • Clearer tool calls. Each call reads as a verb and its target, like "Read src/agent/agent.ts" or "Edit src/agent/agent.ts +3 −1", with the time beside it. Edits show how many lines they added and removed.
  • Your messages stand apart. What you type sits in its own block instead of behind a ❯.
  • Steer a running turn. While the agent works, Return sends your message into the turn it's on. The model reads it at its next safe point, without losing the work already done. Images, skill commands and @-mentions still wait for the next turn.
  • Edit MCP connections in Settings. Set headers on a remote server, or env, an env file and a working directory on a local one. Duplicate copies a connection under a new name, so a second account can use the same command with different settings. Each row shows whether it's connected, needs sign-in, or failed to start.
  • Queued prompts are labelled as queued, the effort control has a chevron like the model picker, and the model picker opens inside the composer.
  • The sidebar shows a workspace's folder in a tooltip instead of under its name, and its session count only while it's collapsed.

Fixes and changes

  • Updates libfx to 0.0.14. Turns finish faster, and "Compacting…" now follows libfx's own report of when it compacts.
  • Updates gpuix to 0.10.0, which includes the text field and file panel changes fx used to carry in its own build.

Known issue

The Run through the fx CLI setting has no effect when the native libfx engine loads, which is the usual case: turns still run on the built-in engine.

Thanks to @BaileySimrell for #21.

The macOS installer is signed and notarized.

fx-ui v0.2.5

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Sep 18:29

What's new

  • Named subagents keep their conversation. A subagent can now be given a name, and later work sent under that name goes to the same child, which remembers what it did before. A one-off subagent still starts fresh each time. A session keeps up to four named subagents; a fifth closes the one used least recently. Closing the session closes them all.
  • Add to a subagent's work while it runs. While a named subagent is working, Return adds a note instead of queueing a follow-up for later. The subagent reads it after its current step, without being stopped, and its answer covers both.

Thanks to @BaileySimrell for #13.

Fixes

  • A tool call whose input spans several lines, like a shell command with a heredoc, now stays on its one row in the conversation instead of spilling over the text below it. The same applies to the processes menu, the command palette, and approval cards.

The macOS installer is signed and notarized.

fx-ui v0.2.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Sep 15:19

Changes

  • Updates libfx to 0.0.10. Turns finish up to 1.6× faster and model requests start up to 2.5× faster, with the biggest gains in long sessions. MCP error messages also hide secrets more reliably.

The macOS installer is signed and notarized.

fx-ui v0.2.2

@github-actions github-actions released this 12 Sep 17:18

What's new

  • Review changes beside the conversation. A Changes pane lists staged, modified, and untracked files with line counts, shows every change as one diff, and opens any file in its own tab. Toggle word-level highlighting, open a file in its default app, or undo the agent's last edit to it. Open it from the pane header, the command palette, or /changes.
  • Fork a session. Copy a session into a second pane to try another approach from the same point. Forks are marked in the sidebar. Use the pane header, the command palette, or /fork.
  • Slash commands in the composer. /new, /rename, /copy, /undo, /fork, /changes, /model, and /permissions run from the / menu alongside your skills. /model and /permissions open their own pickers. Move through the menu with ⌃N and ⌃P, and accept with Tab or Return.
  • Search your conversations. The command palette now searches message text across every session and jumps straight to the matching message.
  • See token usage. Settings has a Usage section with tokens per turn over the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days, broken down by day, model, and session.
  • Watch subagents work. A delegated task shows as an expandable card with each of the subagent's tool calls and their output, instead of a single row.
  • Run a subagent on a different model. A subagent can take its own model and reasoning effort, so you can plan on one model and hand implementation to another. It can only use models this session is signed in to or has a key for.
  • Manage background processes. The processes menu shows each command's elapsed time, exit status, and recent output, links to local servers it starts, and lets you stop a running command or clear a finished one.
  • Plan usage for Grok. The context meter shows your Grok weekly allowance and refreshes it after each turn.
  • The context meter appears as soon as you open a session, before the first turn.
  • Hide the sidebar from its own header, as well as with ⌘B.

Fixes and changes

  • Deleting a session or workspace now also deletes its saved agent state.
  • Updates libfx to 0.0.9. Gateway requests now go to the v4 language-model endpoint, which applies reasoning effort settings.

Agent state saved for sessions deleted before this release stays on disk. You can remove it from ~/.fx-ui/checkpoints while fx is closed.

Thanks to @BaileySimrell for #12.

fx-ui v0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Sep 16:29

What's new

  • Choose which MCP connections each workspace uses with Use here / Ignore here in Settings. Connections and credentials stay in ~/.fx-ui; repository configs are not loaded automatically.
  • Give MCP connections stable IDs so separate accounts can be managed independently. Disabling a connection still pauses it across all workspaces.
  • Tie tool approvals to the resolved server URL, or command, arguments, and working directory. Changing the execution target requires renewed permission, including changes through environment and file variables.
  • Keep MCP tool lookup isolated to the current workspace, including when its connection pool is unavailable.

Existing MCP approvals will be requested again after upgrading. Existing connections remain available in every workspace until you customize its selection.

Thanks to @BaileySimrell for #10.

The macOS installer is signed and notarized.

fx-ui v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Sep 14:37

What's new

  • Import MCP servers from Cursor, Devin, and Windsurf, with previews, duplicate detection, and support for environment variables, environment files, working directories, and disabled servers.
  • Discover MCP tools on demand instead of loading every schema into each conversation. Larger server catalogs are supported.
  • Show a live indicator while the model compacts conversation context.
  • Queue prompts while a turn is running. #7
  • Restore a Git workspace to its state before the last turn. #8
