Textwright 0.2.0
Pre-release
Pre-release
First published build of Textwright, an Android SMS app that lets you edit the text and timestamp of the messages stored on your own phone.
Highlights
- Edit messages: change a stored message's text, date and time, and restore the original at any time.
- App lock: fingerprint, a pattern, or either one, asked for every time the app is opened.
- Search: find conversations by name, number or any message text, with filters for unread, known and unknown senders.
- Settings: light, dark or system theme, wallpaper colours, notification privacy and screenshot blocking.
- Dual-SIM: choose the SIM to send from.
- New app icon and a redesigned conversation list and conversation view.
Install
- Download
Textwright-0.2.0-debug.apkbelow and open it on an Android 8.0+ phone (allow installs from your browser or file manager when asked). - Open Textwright and tap Set as default SMS app.
Good to know
- This is an early build signed with a debug key, not a release key. A later release-signed build will not install over it; you would have to uninstall this one first, which removes the saved originals of edited messages.
- Edits change the copy on your phone only. Back up messages you care about before relying on it.
- MMS, RCS and group messaging are not supported yet.
