Textwright 0.2.1
First release-signed build of Textwright, an Android SMS app that lets you edit the text and timestamp of the messages stored on your own phone.
What's new since 0.2.0
- Signed with the Silifton release key. Future releases will install over this one and keep your data.
- No longer a debuggable build.
- The "Edited" marker now appears when you tap a message, next to its time.
Highlights
- Edit messages: change a stored message's text, date and time, and restore the original at any time.
- App lock: fingerprint, a pattern, or either one, asked for every time the app is opened.
- Search: find conversations by name, number or any message text, with filters for unread, known and unknown senders.
- Settings: light, dark or system theme, wallpaper colours, notification privacy and screenshot blocking.
- Dual-SIM: choose the SIM to send from.
Install
- Download
Textwright-0.2.1.apkbelow and open it on an Android 8.0+ phone (allow installs from your browser or file manager when asked). - Open Textwright and tap Set as default SMS app.
Upgrading from 0.2.0: that build was signed with a debug key, so this one will not install over it. Uninstall 0.2.0 first. Uninstalling removes Textwright's saved originals of edited messages and its app lock; your messages themselves stay in the phone's SMS store.
Good to know
- Edits change the copy on your phone only. Back up messages you care about before relying on it.
- MMS, RCS and group messaging are not supported yet.
