Subsequent runs

Once clippy setup has written your .env/clippy.yaml, everyday use is just:

clippy --broadcaster somechannel -y

-y/--yes skips the confirmation prompt. Leave it off to see a summary and confirm before anything runs.

Profiles — one install, several streamers/branding sets

If you build compilations for more than one channel, clippy profile sets up a named profile in a short, credential-free flow:

clippy profile # create or edit a profile
clippy profile use NAME # make NAME the default for future runs
clippy --list-profiles # show what's defined
clippy --profile NAME # use NAME for a single run

A profile is a partial clippy.yaml merged over the top-level config, so it can override just the broadcaster, branding (intro/outro), clip counts, or encoding — anything it doesn't mention keeps the shared value. Per-profile artwork lives in transitions/<profile>/, falling back to transitions/ for anything shared (like static.mp4), so you don't duplicate files across profiles.

A profile can also default to reading from Discord instead of Twitch (identity.source: discord in the profile), so you don't need --discord on every run for a channel that's always Discord-sourced. --discord/--no-discord on the command line still override it when you need to.

What the confirmation panel shows

Without -y, Clippy shows a "Run plan" panel before doing anything:

Source : Helix
Profile : theflood
Broadcaster : theflood
Time Window  : 2026-07-19 -> 2026-07-22 (3 days)
Min views : 0
Format : mp4 (-movflags +faststart)
Resolution : 1920x1080 FPS : 60 Bitrate : 16M Audio : 192k
Compilations : 2 x 12 (24 total)
Output dir : ./output
Transitions : intro=1, trans=5, outro=1, prob=0.35
Overlay : enabled
Proceed? [Y/n]:

Source and Profile are shown up front because they silently change what a run actually does (which credentials it uses, which branding, which channel/server). Rows like Rebuild or Audio notes only appear when they're off the sane default — if you don't see them, nothing unusual is happening.

Branding: creator credit and watermark

Every clip gets an optional avatar + "clipped by X" credit overlay (behavior.enable_overlay), independent of an optional logo watermark (assets.watermark). Set assets.watermark to a filename (resolved the same way as static/intro/outro) to turn watermarking on; leave it blank to leave it off. watermark_x/watermark_y are raw ffmpeg overlay expressions — e.g. main_w-overlay_w-20 for a right-aligned position with a 20px margin — and watermark_alpha (0.0–1.0) controls opacity. Both features can run together; they compose into a single encode pass.

See the commented clippy.yaml.example in the repo for every option, with examples.

Credits, ready to paste

Every run writes credits.md into the output folder — the same "clipped by" credit list the TUI shows, in plain paste-ready text for a YouTube description, no markdown to strip first. See Headless mode for redirecting it with --credits-file.
