Workspaces aren't syncing to a new device

What happened?

I've installed Zen Browser on a new computer running Zorin 18. The originating computer is running CachyOS (February 2026). Both browsers are 1.18.5b (Firefox 147); the originating computer is running a native binary, while Zorin 18 is running the AppImage. I tried the Flatpak version with the same result.

Expected behavior

Turning on Mozilla Sync enables syncing of all selected items including Workspaces

Actual behavior

Turning on Mozilla Sync enables syncing of all selected items EXCEPT Workspaces

Steps to reproduce

1. Install Zen Browser on Computer A
2. Create one or more Workspaces with different settings (container type, colors, etc.)
3. Log into Mozilla Sync and enable syncing Workspaces
4. Install Zen Browser on Computer B
5. Log into Mozilla Sync and enable syncing Workspaces
6. Workspaces do not sync

If relevant, the kernel on CachyOS (Arch) is 6.18.9, and the kernel on Zorin 18 is 6.18.7.

Cross device workspace sync is currently not possible with mozilla sync since zens workspaces are different then firefoxes. Its on the roadmap though.

Firefox does not have workspaces afaik. The sync item "other workspaces" is Zen specific and should sync the spaces and their config (not their state/tabs).

@mr-cheffy Is there a time frame on when this will be implemented? With Arc on life support, I think a lot of people are looking for an alternative, and Zen is the closest at the moment.
Also, why is the option there to sync workspaces and tabs if it doesn't work ?

@XenoUniv3rse The tab sync is the regular Firefox one. Where tabs from different devices show up in newtab suggestions, and the 'tabs from other devices' menu (button can be added to the toolbar) / under your profile menu.
Workspace sync, syncs the existence of the workspace and their config like theme and linked container profile.

These work. They're just not a live sync of workspace state (yet).
