What happened?

There are two related issues that appear to stem from the same root cause - a broken
download/write mechanism on Windows Server 2022:

Expected behavior

1. Files should download successfully and be saved to the configured download directory. 2. Clicking "Restart to update" should apply the pending update and launch the new version.

Actual behavior

1. Files should download not successfully and dont saved to the configured download directory. 2. Clicking "Restart to update" should dont apply the pending update and not launch the new version.

Steps to reproduce

The download process starts, but the download doesn't actually take place.

when i close zen with tabs, and open zen back, tabs are all restored

Opened the profile folder from the about:support page, found the largest file in the sessionstore-backups folder, launched the “Session History Scrounger for Firefox” tool, and uploaded the largest file. Then I clicked the “Scrounge URLs” button and was able to open the corrupted file.

Asked the AI. The new version of Zen Browser has an additional backup method, but it’s not available in your browser’s version. It told me to find the largest file in the “sessionstore-backups” folder, copy it to the Profiles folder, and rename it, but the file was corrupted. So it suggested using this tool; I was almost out of hope, but I kept going, and the tool worked, it was able to open the corrupted file.

The tool was developed by Jefferson Scher, who has been one of the most trusted names in the field for over 10 years.

He is one of the most active and respected “Support Volunteers” (Top Contributors) on Mozilla’s official support forums. In fact, even on Mozilla’s own support pages, when users encounter an issue and official solutions fall short, they are often directed to this tool.
