What happened?

Workspaces button (that on the top left, above tabs) does not hide even tho I have only one workspace.
Pretty simple problem. It occurred after I got latest update. Just after I first launched browser after updating it, i noticed this button. I tried to hide it as it is pretty useless for me, but I could not find a way to do that. I read release notes and found out that workspaces are a core feature now, but "it can be really easy to ignore them (they are hidden if you have just one workspace)".
Well, I have one workspace, and workspaces are not hidden.
Also "Hide the default container indicator in the tab bar" and "Hide deactivated workspaces" in settings do not fix my problem.

Maybe i'm just stupid enough that i didn't notice something?

Can reproduce this as well.
As a temporary workaround, you can disable it by setting zen.workspaces.show-workspace-indicatorto false in about:config

The workspace Indicator next to the window controls also cannot be removed (If you right-click it and select "Remove from toolbar" it will just reappear)

Same here. Side panel don't hide too. I don't want use workspace or side panels.
Even if you disable them, they still appear.

I'm a bit confused by why this was marked as 'not planned' by @mauro-balades. The 'Hide the default container indicator in the tab bar' option is a part of the workspace implementation and is currently just functionally broken.

The release notes for the current version say "Workspaces are now a core feature of Zen, and it can be really easy to ignore them (they are hidden if you have just one workspace)"

references exactly this functionality/option, so this is definitely something that should be addressed and cannot be considered 'not-planned'.
