Releases: zeusu-sato/ocean-window
Release list
Ocean Window 0.3.0 - no permission setup
Ocean Window 0.3.0 shows real ocean photographs using a standard VS Code editor tab. Linux system packages can display the sea without sudo, permission changes, application-file patches, or a wallpaper reload.
- Opens automatically in an empty editor group; opening code, Markdown, an image, or another editor closes the scene tab.
- Returns when the last file closes and preserves chat input focus.
- Remembers the current photo, shuffle order, pause state, and per-workspace on/off choice. Settings apply immediately.
- Keeps an explicit legacy restore command for installations that already applied the 0.2.x native wallpaper.
The universal prerelease supports desktop VS Code and Insiders 1.130 or later on Windows, Linux, Intel Mac, and Apple Silicon Mac. Update the existing zeusu-sato.ocean-window extension; no separate extension is needed.
Install ocean-window-0.3.0.vsix with Extensions → Install from VSIX, or use the Marketplace prerelease. Existing native patches can be removed with Ocean Window: Restore Legacy Native Wallpaper, followed by one reload; fresh installations need no such step.
Validation: 70 Node tests and 7 browser tests passed (one POSIX case skipped on Windows). Linux x64 1.130 Stable and 1.137 Insiders ran against root-owned, nonwritable applications; scene/file lifecycle and online photographs worked while native HTML and directory contents stayed unchanged. The final VSIX also passed 12 native Windows checks. The exact published VSIX passed 13 checks on each Intel/Apple Silicon Mac and Stable/Insiders combination, including a full application restart. See validation details and the Mac run.

The Marketplace universal prerelease is validated. Public Marketplace and GitHub downloads both match the SHA-256 below.
Ocean Window 0.2.1 — Universal desktop preview
Fix installation on Linux and VS Code 1.130 Insiders. The previous package was restricted to Windows x64 and unnecessarily required VS Code 1.136.
- Universal desktop VSIX with the same extension ID,
zeusu-sato.ocean-window. - VS Code 1.130 or later, including Insiders.
- Clear errors for native installation permissions and read-only filesystems.
- Standalone Insiders discovery on Linux and macOS as well as Windows.
Install the Marketplace pre-release or download ocean-window-0.2.1.vsix below and choose Extensions → … → Install from VSIX…. Run Ocean Window: Enable / Apply Ocean Wallpaper, then reload when your work is ready.
Linux 版でもインストールできる共通パッケージに修正し、最低バージョンを 1.130 に下げました。Ocean Window: 海の壁紙を有効化・設定を適用 で開始できます。
Native verification: the exact VSIX passed installation, opt-in, online photograph rendering, code/Markdown visibility, restoration, and the packaged uninstall hook on Linux x64 VS Code 1.130.0 stable and 1.137.0 Insiders. The exact historical 1.130 Insiders download was unavailable. Windows regressions: 50 Node tests and six browser tests passed, one POSIX case skipped. Linux installer/adapter regressions: 40 passed, two Windows-only cases skipped.
Applying the wallpaper requires write access to VS Code's installation. On Linux, an official .tar.gz extracted into a directory you own is an option; read-only Snap installations cannot be patched. Windows/Linux ARM builds remain unverified; Mac results are listed below.
This experimental native customization modifies the installed workbench HTML and triggers its integrity warning. It preserves Content Security Policy and integrity checks. Restore with Ocean Window: Restore Original Editor and reload before disabling or uninstalling.

Mac validation added after publication
The same 0.2.1 universal VSIX has now passed native macOS 15 tests on Intel x64 and Apple Silicon arm64, in regular VS Code 1.136.1 and Insiders 1.137.0. There is no M1 minimum and no Mac-specific VSIX to download. The original binary and checksum are unchanged.
The four combinations verify installation, explicit enable, real online photo display, code/Markdown visibility, full application restart with the wallpaper applied, restoration, and the packaged uninstall hook. Native test results and screenshots · Mac installation guide.
The README inside the original VSIX predates these Mac checks; the linked guide and validation page contain the current results.

Preview scope
- Windows x64 desktop, VS Code 1.136 or later. Native rendering and restoration were checked in an isolated copy of VS Code Insiders 1.137.0; Stable and other platforms are not yet verified.
- This experimental effect modifies the installed workbench HTML and triggers VS Code's integrity warning. The existing Content Security Policy and integrity checks remain enabled.
- Run Ocean Window: Restore Original Editor and reload before disabling or uninstalling. Disabling the extension alone does not undo its applied native patch.
- The initial
ocean-window-localpreview must be restored and uninstalled, followed by a complete VS Code restart, before enabling this release. - Version 0.2.0 is publicly available on the VS Code Marketplace and as this GitHub VSIX. See the publication status.
Validation: 44 Node tests and six browser tests passed. The packaged runtime and restore hook were audited against source. The VSIX contains 19 files and no photo cache or development dependencies.
