[Device Support Request] Aqara Vibration Sensor lumi.vibration.agl01

Problem description

I just got myself a new Aquara vibration sensor lumi.vibration.agl01 (DJT12LM). It is detected by ZHA, but Configuration takes a very long time and no useful sensors are added, only "IAS Zone" whatever that may be... So I assume that there is no support for this model yet in ZHA? Can this be added please?

Maybe this will help someone.
I had exactly the same issues while connecting the Aqara Vibration Sensor T1 (DJT12LM) to ZHA - incorrect battery reading and no vibration detection.

I created a custom quirk that fixed these problems.
The lumi.vibration.agl01 now works correctly: it shows the battery level and registers vibration and triple tap events.

Installation:

1. Create a folder named custom_zha_quirks in your config folder
2. Place the quirk file vibration_agl01.py inside that folder
3. Add this to your configuration.yaml:

zha:
  custom_quirks_path: /config/custom_zha_quirks/

4. Restart Home Assistant
5. Reconfigure or remove and re-pair the sensor in ZHA

Usage:
Check the device's activity panel - you should see vibration and triple tap events being detected.

To use in automations, create an event trigger:

• Event type: zha_event
• Event data:

device_id: <your_device_id>
command: vibration

Our example use case:
I've attached ours to a traditional doorbell ringer to make it smart. Now I get notifications on my phone whenever someone rings the doorbell, without having to replace the existing doorbell system.

Hello, I'm joining this discussion because I'm not a developer at all, but I'm quite hooked on home automation, using Delta Dore and Ezviz products. I recently set up a Green Home Assistant system, and since yesterday I've also installed an AQARA Zigbee 3.0 Vibration Sensor T1 DJT12LM and a SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle with external antenna (V2) ZBDONGLE-E, compatible with Home Assistant and Zigbee2mqtt. I've been trying unsuccessfully since yesterday to activate the Aqara system to use the angle sensor for my garage door. I tried with ZHA, but without success. The angle sensor never appears. I also tried with Zigbee2MQTT, but I can't get it to work. If anyone can tell me how to do this, step by step, with either method, I'd be very grateful, as I've chosen Zigbee to continue expanding my home automation system, but now I'm hesitant.

I managed to get it working via Zigbee2MQTT. ZHA wasn't working.
I assume it's your configuration that's wrong rather than the sensor integration, because with Zigbee2mqtt it's supposed to work.
Here is my docker-compose.yaml. I pair the sensor via the Zigbee2MQTT web interface, then I do an MQTT integration in Home Assistant. It works.

I can't help any further.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough to set that up. I'm using Home Assistant to avoid all those very technical aspects. Perhaps someone else has encountered the same issue and can help me. For now, I'm trying to rely on Gemini ;-)

Hello Gwado, your information did help me successfully install the sensor. However, I'm currently unable to get it to automatically adjust for cornering angles, even though it should. I've opened a support ticket with Aqara because I couldn't find any information on this issue.

I'm not sure if this sensor takes angles into account (if x degrees then action y, etc.).
In fact, when I tested it at home, it recognized movement regardless of the direction. I use it for intrusion detection on my doors and windows: it detects slight movements (which can be likened to vibrations) such as knocks on a window, but also when doors and windows are opened.
If I tilt a sensor placed on a table, it also detects this.
So it depends on your objective. If you want it to take a specific angle into account, it won't work. If you want to detect a change in angle, it works.

I'm pretty sure this sensor will never live up to my expectations. My goal is for it to detect changes in angle to compensate for the fact that my garage door doesn't have a sensor to indicate whether it's open or closed. I have scenarios that work perfectly by sending a pulse to my door. It either opens or closes depending on its position. From reading the information about this sensor, I thought it measured the angle. My idea, and what I thought I could do, was to say: if the angle is xxx degrees, then the door is closed. If the angle changes by xxx degrees, then the door is open. Or something like that. But it seems I'll have to find another way, which is a real shame because I can't return it; otherwise, I would have sent it back and bought a different module.

The DJT12LM does not support tilt angles. You want the previous version of this sensor DJT11LM. That one works perfectly with HA, only the zigbee implementation is a bit wonky.

Okay, explain your situation and ask for a refund; it should be possible.
To monitor whether your door is closed or open, I would recommend this type of SONOFF SNZB-04P sensor. The two parts are side by side when the door is closed, one on the door and the other on the door frame. When the door opens, the door takes the first part with it, moving it away from the second part, which is on the fixed frame.

Basically, it won't work and we won't take your product back. Too bad, I won't be ordering from this site again, which seemed to be a leader in home automation.
