Local AI Relay v0.3.0 — Alpha

Local messaging between a sender (coordinator) and a receiver (executor), independent of the model/provider. Connecting sends no task. Both roles can use a background listener; idle listeners make no model calls.

Install

Requires Python 3.10+. Install the attached universal wheel directly (no Git required):

python -m pip install "https://github.com/zxc972/local-ai-relay/releases/download/v0.3.0/local_ai_relay-0.3.0-py3-none-any.whl"
airelay --help

Use python3 on systems where that is the Python command, or py on Windows. Use a virtual environment where your Python installation requires one. The source archive is also attached. The project is not on PyPI.

Included

  • Durable local SQLite mailbox with role checks, correlated replies, acknowledgements, and explicit recovery after uncertain delivery.
  • Standard stdio MCP tools and a portable airelay CLI.
  • Detached command adapters and a quiet JSONL event stream for either role.
  • Pi extension, Codex queue adapter, and Claude Code Channels integration.
  • MIT license, installation instructions, adapter contract, and Windows/macOS/Linux CI.

Validation and scope

All nine CI combinations passed for release commit 437c75feae3f5ebe9d321ff1a74dc915303d16b0: Windows, macOS, Linux × Python 3.10, 3.12, 3.13. Final CI run. Each job runs 67 Python tests, eight Pi extension contract tests, and distribution builds. Fresh-wheel tests cover both sender and receiver background notifications outside the source checkout. Tests use temporary data and fake hosts; no paid model calls or real user chats are used.

Attached packages come directly from that CI run. Their source/resources were checked against the release commit; local databases, credentials, client configuration, screenshots, and personal paths are excluded. SHA256SUMS.txt contains checksums for both packages.

Automatic Agent wake-up requires the client's supported event/input integration. Generic MCP tool support alone does not guarantee wake-up. Host acceptance is distinct from Agent execution. This alpha shares storage on one machine; it does not implement cross-machine networking or automatic OS-login service installation. Listeners must be restarted after reboot.

See the README, adapter contract, and validation evidence.
