What's New

Zync v2.27.1 ships Public URLs (Beta) so you can share a local port with an HTTPS link, redesigns Port Forwarding into a compact host-grouped list (with a matching grid), and improves busy-port handling for remote (-R) forwards.

Production Public URLs API/relay hosts are baked at release compile time from GitHub Actions secrets (not hardcoded in source).

  • Public URLs (Beta) - Sign in to Zync (GitHub/Google), share a localhost port, copy the HTTPS link, start/stop/delete shares. Separate from Drive Sync and from SSH port forwarding

  • Remote port conflict picker - Busy SSH -R listens get the same next-port / manual picker as local forwards

Create/stop/start/delete, copy URL, local share agent, OAuth cancel/retry, Beta badge, and bug-report link. Profile avatar prefers the Zync account photo when signed in. Fixed

  • Remote port conflict - Busy SSH -R listen ports use the same next-port / manual picker as local forwards. If every probe fails, the original reject is kept. Probe binds that cannot be cancelled stay tracked until disconnect. (9acc835, 72d839b)
  • Public URLs WebSocket - Forward pre-close request bytes before later frames so upgrade payloads stay in order. (4784865)
  • Public URLs build config - Production API/relay hosts are no longer hardcoded. Release builds bake ZYNC_SHARE_API_BASE and ZYNC_SHARE_RELAY_URL from GitHub Actions secrets. Debug builds may use local zync-share loopback.

Quick Check After Upgrade

  1. Public URLs (Beta) - Sign in to Zync, share a local port, confirm the HTTPS link opens while sharing is active, then stop/delete the share.
  2. Port Forwarding list - Open the global Port Forwarding view; confirm hosts group the list, filters work, and list/grid choice persists after relaunch.
  3. Copy / Open - From a row, copy an address and open a running local forward in the browser.
  4. Busy ports - Start a local forward on a taken port and confirm the conflict picker; try a remote (-R) forward on a busy remote port if you can.
  5. Survey (optional) - If you have not completed the check-in yet, confirm Help Zync improve appears once after updating; Skip/Submit → no second prompt on relaunch. Submit needs the survey API to be reachable (VITE_SURVEY_API_URL baked at release).
  6. Version - Open Settings → About and confirm v2.27.1.

Upgrade

Zync will update automatically on next launch (AppImage).
