Release Notes - Zync v2.33.3

Release date: 2026-09-28

What's New

Zync v2.33.3 improves the built-in file editor and introduces a simple,
optional way for returning users to share feedback.

Highlights:

  • Faster file editor: CodeMirror and language support now load only when needed, with a lighter mode for large files.
  • Better editor controls: Save, Go to Line, Find/Replace, Close, and keyboard shortcuts are easier to discover and use.
  • More reliable editing: File contents, unsaved changes, cursor state, themes, and save status remain consistent across common editing flows.
  • Returning-user feedback: A short, optional survey helps guide what Zync improves next.

Compare: v2.33.2...v2.33.3

See It in Action

Added

  • File editor actions: Added mouse-accessible Save, Go to Line, Find/Replace, and Close controls.
  • Editor shortcuts dialog: The editor toolbar once again makes keyboard shortcuts easy to discover, with a dedicated dialog and Zync-styled tooltips.
  • Returning-user survey: Existing users may see a short survey about their workflow and what Zync should improve. The survey is optional and does not interrupt the workspace.
  • Feedback reminder: Choosing Skip for now keeps a small, non-blocking feedback button available so the survey can be completed later.

Changed

  • Faster editor startup: The editor and language support are loaded only when a file needs them.
  • Lower editor overhead: Zync retains a bounded number of editing sessions across pane switches, and large files use a reduced feature set to limit memory and processing cost.
  • Clearer save state: The Save icon highlights while a file has unsaved changes and becomes muted after saving. A small status label confirms when the file is saved.
  • One-time feedback: After a returning user successfully completes the survey, Zync records it as complete and does not ask that user again.

Fixed

  • Visible file contents: Fixed a regression that could make a non-empty file appear blank in the built-in editor.
  • Editor spacing: Restored appropriate spacing between the line-number gutter and the edge of the pane.
  • Save race protection: Edits made while a save is still in progress are preserved instead of being replaced by the earlier saved content.
  • Stable editor sessions: Editor state remains consistent after saves and while switching between workspace panes.
  • Theme updates: Syntax highlighting updates correctly when the Zync theme changes.
  • Shared status bar: Cursor position and save state are published consistently to the existing status bar.
  • Survey reminder persistence: Choosing Skip for now reliably keeps the feedback button available after restarting Zync.
  • Completed survey state: Successful submissions are saved before the thank-you screen closes, preventing the survey from appearing again after a restart.

A Small Request

If Zync shows the returning-user feedback survey, please take a moment to fill
it out. Your answers help prioritize the workflows, fixes, and features that
matter most. The survey is optional, can be skipped, and can be reopened later
from its small feedback button until it is completed.

GitHub Issues.
