Zync v2.33.9
Release Notes - Zync v2.33.9
Release date: 2026-09-30
What's New
Zync v2.33.9 makes installed themes dependable and gives external editor providers a cleaner, more consistent editing experience. Zedit now shares Zync's compact editor controls, while provider assets and lifecycle handling are safer in production builds.
Highlights:
- Themes that work after installation: Built-in plugin styles now follow the selected Zync theme in packaged builds, matching development behavior.
- A better Zedit experience: Zedit uses Zync's compact editor toolbar for shortcuts, save state, go to line, and find/replace.
- Reliable save feedback: Queued saves and provider reloads no longer leave the toolbar stuck or let an older save overwrite newer UI state.
- Faster editor startup: Package scanning and verification run away from the desktop UI thread.
- Safer provider lifecycle: Editor assets stay isolated, and stale document runtimes are released when the main webview reloads or closes.

Changed
- Editor provider startup: Package scanning, integrity verification, and editor asset preparation now run on a blocking worker instead of delaying the desktop UI thread. (dc40757)
- Shared editor toolbar: External editors receive the same compact shortcuts, save, go-to-line, find/replace, and close controls used across Zync. Successful saves use quiet inline status instead of repetitive notifications. (6704900)
Fixed
- Packaged theme styling: Dynamically installed built-in theme styles now receive the release build's content-security nonce, so themes apply correctly after installing or updating Zync. (1bdd4a6)
- Packaged editor assets: Manifest-declared editor CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and workers load through Zync's isolated plugin resource route while retaining permission and package-integrity checks. (dc40757)
- Queued saves and reloads: A save becomes pending as soon as it enters the queue. Provider reloads reset stale progress safely, and an older request cannot clear or overwrite a newer editor's save state. (6704900)
- Editor runtime cleanup: Document registrations and their isolated runtimes are released when the main webview reloads or is destroyed, even when browser-side cleanup cannot run. (6704900)

Quick Check After Upgrade
- Themes: Change the Zync theme and open a built-in plugin pane. Its colors and controls should match the selected theme in the installed app.
- Zedit: Install or update Zedit, open a file, and try Shortcuts, Save, Go to Line, and Find / Replace.
- Save state: Edit and save repeatedly. The toolbar should show saving immediately, return to saved after completion, and remain usable after reopening the editor.
- Provider assets: Confirm Zedit syntax colors, fonts, minimap, and search UI load correctly in the packaged app.
