Memory Layer v1.0.0
First stable release of Memory Layer: local-first, project-scoped memory for coding agents.
Highlights
- Self-maintaining memory (new) — memories earn an activation score through real usage (retrievals, answer citations), activation spreads to linked memories and decays over time, and hot memories are re-validated against project evidence (sources, provenance, git history) by an opt-in LLM pipeline. Weak evidence never rewrites content — it flags the memory for review. New commands:
memory scores, memory validate, memory review; new[reinforcement]config section (scoring on by default, validation opt-in and dry-run first). - Hybrid retrieval (full-text + embeddings + code graph) with ranking diagnostics, provenance verification, and replacement-proposal curation.
- Terminal UI, browser UI with 3D graph explorer, watchers, loop automations, and a read-only MCP server.
Install
Debian/Ubuntu:
sudo dpkg -i memory-layer_1.0.0_amd64.debmacOS:
brew tap 3vilM33pl3/memory https://github.com/3vilM33pl3/memory
brew install 3vilM33pl3/memory/memory-layerRequires PostgreSQL with pgvector. Full instructions and upgrade notes: see the documentation site or docs/user/.
Known issues
- Four
loop_repositoryintegration tests fail on PostgreSQL 17 (FOR UPDATEon the nullable side of an outer join); loop approval flows are unaffected in normal use but this is tracked for a point release. - Windows packaging is prepared but not yet released.
