  1. Be aware of app update latency. No way to know when users will update their apps. You'll to ensure changes in your API won't break older versions of your app.
  2. If your new API is not backwards compatible, you may consider deploying it under a different subdomains and use the same database.
  3. Safely disable your old API after a period of inactivity. Can serve static JSON responses directing users to update their apps.
  4. Other ideas.
