v2.3.2 ??Camera detach fix (complete)

Choose a tag to compare

@9138noms 9138noms released this 23 Feb 05:07

Changes v2.3.2

  • Fixed: Camera flying away when pressing WASD to drive possessed vehicles
    • v2.3.1 fixed the IsLocalAircraft ambiguous match, but the camera still transitioned to free camera mode
    • Now also patches CameraStateManager.CheckChangeState to block all camera state transitions during possession
    • Root cause: the game's CheckChangeState has its own internal AnyMoveInput check separate from CameraOrbitState.AnyMoveInput

Installation

  1. Extract ZIP to game folder
  2. Structure: BepInEx\plugins\VehicleControl.dll

v2.3.1 ??Camera detach fix

Choose a tag to compare

@9138noms 9138noms released this 22 Feb 17:00

Changes v2.3.1

  • Fixed: Camera immediately detaching after possessing a vehicle. Caused by a game update adding a new method overload that broke the camera lock patch (IsLocalAircraft Ambiguous Match).

Installation

  1. Extract ZIP to game folder
  2. Structure: BepInEx\plugins\VehicleControl.dll

v2.3.0 — Camera Lock Fix + BepInEx Compatibility

Choose a tag to compare

@9138noms 9138noms released this 12 Feb 15:47

What's New in v2.3.0

Bug Fixes

  • Camera no longer breaks free on WASD — Patched GameManager.IsLocalAircraft to recognize possessed units, preventing CameraOrbitState from switching to free camera mode during WASD input
  • Camera survives scene changes — Fixed stale CameraStateManager reference that caused camera follow to fail when switching missions (always re-finds via FindObjectOfType)
  • BepInEx compatibility fix — Standalone FrameHelper MonoBehaviour on separate DontDestroyOnLoad GameObject, survives BepInEx_Manager destruction that occurs on some systems

Technical Details

  • GameManager.IsLocalAircraft Postfix: returns true for possessed unit → camera stays locked
  • CameraOrbitState.AnyMoveInput Prefix: blocks WASD input from reaching camera during possession (double safety)
  • FrameHelper pattern: Update(), FixedUpdate(), OnGUI() all run on standalone GameObject independent of BepInEx lifecycle

Installation

  1. Download VehicleControl.dll
  2. Place in BepInEx/plugins/
  3. Default key: F8 to possess nearest friendly ship/vehicle, F7 to toggle direct/waypoint mode

v1.3.0 — Configurable Keybind + Cruise Control

Choose a tag to compare

@9138noms 9138noms released this 10 Feb 15:36

What's New

Configurable Keybind

  • Possess key can now be changed in BepInEx/config/com.noms.vehiclecontrol.cfg
  • Default remains F8 — change it if it conflicts with other mods

Cruise Control (Ground Vehicles)

  • Press C to lock current throttle — vehicle maintains speed without holding W
  • Press C again or S to disengage

Tips

  • Ground vehicles in Hold Position won't move — give them a movement order first, then possess
  • You can possess from spectator/free camera
