linscp 0.4.0
Pre-release
Pre-release
A pre-release of linscp, a Qt 6 port of WinSCP for Linux and Windows. It runs WinSCP 6.7.1's own core under a new Qt interface. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the WinSCP project.
What's new
- The Explorer interface, WinSCP's second one: Preferences > Interface > Explorer, applied on the next start.
- The remote panel alone, with the folder tree beside it and an address bar.
- WinSCP's Explorer menus, toolbars and keys.
- Large icons, small icons, list, details and thumbnails.
- Downloads go to the last local folder chosen.
- The remaining Preferences pages:
- Environment: every confirmation (transfers, drag and drop, deleting, closing sessions, the synchronization summary, continue on error) and the notifications (a beep when long work finishes, tray balloons, taskbar flashing).
- Interface: the interface itself, and a Light/Dark/Automatic theme.
- Panels > Remote: hide inaccessible directories; refresh after operations; refresh every so many seconds.
- Panels > Local: keep the local directory when switching tabs; delete to the trash.
- Drag & Drop: the temporary folder's free-space warning, and on Windows the fake-file drag.
- Updates: a periodic check (off by default), beta versions, a proxy.
- Preferences is now laid out as WinSCP's tree.
- Custom command extensions (WinSCP's
.WinSCPextensionfiles), in Preferences > Commands.- Add one from a file or a URL (winscp.net's extension pages work), configure its options, and run it from the menus.
- The Windows packages include WinSCP's .NET assembly, so WinSCP's own PowerShell extensions (Archive and Download, Verify Checksum and others) run with linscp.
- Windows:
- Jump list: the taskbar's Recent Sites and Recent Workspaces.
- Shell context menu: Explorer's own menu for local files ("System Menu", or on every right-click with Panels > Local's option).
- Drag & drop shell extension: WinSCP's, so remote files dragged into an Explorer folder download straight there. The installer registers it unless WinSCP's own copy is already registered; the same extension serves both.
Not yet: linscp's own dialogs are translated only into Brazilian Portuguese (WinSCP's texts follow every language it has). WinSCP's tips, usage statistics and donor automatic updates are not offered. See the tracker.
