Installed copies of 0.7.5 offer this update on their own.
New
- Quantity takeoff (TAKEOFF, Tools ▸ Inquiry ▸ Quantity Takeoff): lengths or areas by layer (wildcards allowed), with a waste factor, in feet or metres from the drawing's units. Blocks, arrays and xrefs are counted at their scale, and clipped references count only what they show. Output as CSV or a table in the drawing.
- XCLIP (Modify ▸ Clip ▸ Xref): clip block references and xrefs to a rectangle, polygon or polyline, inside or outside, with the frame shown per XCLIPFRAME. Clips are saved in DXF and DWG.
- Symbols land on trade layers (power, lighting, equipment, communications, fire alarm) with their schedule fields hidden, and remember the last values you typed.
- -DIMSTYLE and -STYLE at the command line; WBLOCK and MEASUREGEOM prompt for what they need; menu items that used to demand parameters now prompt.
- More AutoLISP: attributes are entities (ENTNEXT, NENTSELP), TBLOBJNAME, REGAPP and xdata (
entgetwith application names, ssgetfilters), angles in radians, and DWGNAME/DWGPREFIX/DWGTITLED.
Faster
- Hatches with thousands of islands no longer slow everything down: on a dense civil sheet, a pick went from up to 6.5 s to about 0.1 s, and undo from 4 s to under 0.4 s.
- PEDIT Multiple Join works in linear time (thousands of segments in a moment), and picking a point inside a dense area to hatch is quicker.
- Selecting ALL is linear: moving 200,000 objects takes about a second.
Safer with your files
- Opening a drawing whose current linetype or text, dimension, multileader, table or multiline style doesn't exist resets it to ByLayer or Standard (with a note), instead of giving every new object a name the file lacks.
- Closing a drawing gives back its memory: cached selection indexes and decoded images of closed drawings are released.
- Relative image paths are looked up only beside the drawing that uses them, so two jobs with the same image names never show each other's pictures.
- Crash recovery offers a crashed session's files at once, without taking files from a copy of CADaddy that is still running.
- Dimensions inside blocks keep their geometry when saved; groups are saved with their member links.
- Enter pressed while the "save changes?" question is open no longer repeats the last command behind it.
Fixes
- The in-place multiline text editor keeps the keyboard (typing no longer replaced the text).
- Hatch boundaries on converted plans close where wall pieces overlap.
- ENTMOD keeps attributes and dimension associativity; Unicode escapes in text are decoded; FIND searches the decoded text.
- PDF import: markups stay on the page, and converted sheets take their dimension and text scale from the scale note.
- CEN snap from a circle's edge; fixed-height text styles skip TEXT's height prompt; -HATCH asks again for an unknown pattern.
Licence
CADaddy's source is now public under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-ALv2): free to use, study and modify for anything except a competing product, and each release becomes Apache-2.0 two years after it ships. It includes code from CADCraft (MIT OR Apache-2.0).
