CADaddy 0.7.7: 3D and walkthroughs, CADaddy's own .cdy format, sheet sets, plans-to-model, and hundreds more AutoCAD commands and options.

Installed copies of 0.7.6 offer this update on their own.

3D and walkthroughs

  • 3D solids: primitives, extrude/revolve/sweep/loft, booleans, fillets, SOLIDEDIT, SLICE; sections and elevations; 3D move/rotate/scale/align/mirror/array with gizmos, 3D snaps and dynamic UCS.
  • Materials, lights and the Realistic style, a path tracer for still renders, and baked lighting (LIGHTBAKE) for walkthroughs.
  • Walk and fly inside the drawing (View ▸ Walk) and camera tours with MP4 export.
  • Big scenes stay fast: instancing, culling, level of detail and background builds; 3D works on weak and virtual GPUs with CPU fallbacks.
  • 3D exchange: glTF/GLB, OBJ and STL export and import; point clouds (LAS, PTS, XYZ).

Plans to model

  • A building spec kept in the drawing, drafted from the plan alone (bspec.draft) or from PDF plans, reviewed in the Plans to Model palette, then built: walls with openings, stairs/ramps/railings, exteriors and roofs from elevations, ceilings from reflected ceiling plans, rooms as 3D spaces, MEP runs with a clash report, structural grids, door and window schedules, and furniture from the plan's 2D symbols (FURNISH).
  • model.revise rebuilds after the plans change and keeps hand edits.

Files

  • .cdy, CADaddy's own lossless format (save as .cdy) with fast incremental saves.
  • Release 12 DXF output; EPS and WMF export.
  • Other programs' handles are kept across saves; binary .ctb/.stb plot style tables and system printers.
  • Sheet sets (Sheet Set Manager, publish to one PDF with bookmarks); plot preview shows the real plot; PUBLISH sheet lists.
  • Markups from reviewed PDFs (MARKUPIMPORT) as revision clouds and text; Excel data links and TABLEEXPORT to .xlsx; searchable text in PDF plots.
  • eTransmit; edit xrefs in place; plot from the command line.

Drafting

  • Fields, UCS, spell check, hyperlinks, dynamic block authoring, BLOCKIFY, Express Tools III and the text tools (SCALETEXT, TJUST, TORIENT, TEXTMASK, TCIRCLE, TEXTFIT, TFRAME, RTEXT, ATTOUT/ATTIN).
  • Find and Replace; DesignCenter; Blocks palette and tool palettes; Undo History and Command History palettes.
  • Tab cycles snap points; tracking shows every acquired point; command-line AutoComplete with named objects.
  • CAD standards (STANDARDS, CHECKSTANDARDS, LAYTRANS); Parameters Manager and constraint settings.
  • AutoLISP vlax-curve and vl- functions; about 80 more system variables.

Interface

  • Accessibility: every control is named for screen readers, ribbon key tips, a High Contrast theme and an interface size setting.
  • Workspaces and the navigation bar; an alias and shortcut editor; floating palettes on other monitors.
  • Right-to-left interface for Arabic; Japanese; engine messages in every interface language.
  • Report a Problem builds a diagnostics bundle on your computer (nothing is sent).

Fixes

  • Saving DWG/DXF no longer gives two objects the same handle.
  • Reopening a drawing that is already open moves it to the top of Recent Files.
  • Agents can't press Enter inside a command you started.
  • Many tester-reported fixes across commands, dialogs and palettes.

Licence

Source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-ALv2): free to use, study and modify for anything except a competing product; each release becomes Apache-2.0 two years after it ships. It includes code from CADCraft (MIT OR Apache-2.0).
