Attendees

  • Heinrich Schuchardt (Canonical)
  • Ilias Apalodimas (Linaro)
  • Ricardo Salveti (Qualcomm)
  • Vincent Stehlé (Arm)

Agenda

  • Pull request #170: Require the Memory Attribute Protocol if Enhanced Memory Protection is supported
  • Pull request #169: Specify runtime access to file-backed variable stores
  • Quick update on the mailing-list

Notes

  • The two pull requests are good to go; #170 was merged during the call and #169 should be merged anytime soon.
  • It might be necessary to change mailing-list and investigations are on-going.

Raw notes

  • Pull request #169: Specify runtime access to file-backed variable stores
    • Looks good overall
      • Clearly marked "non-normative"
      • Good to have the overall mechanism documented somewhere
    • Mechanism was introduced after libefivar version 39, is on the main branch but no release has it yet
      • Debian & Ubuntu are on v39 -> few distros will have it (for now)
    • We might prefer to link to the commit on the main branch rather than to the pull request.
    • Overall, good to merge -> wait for Ricardo's go and merge
  • Pull request #170: Require the Memory Attribute Protocol if Enhanced Memory Protection is supported
    • Merged!
  • Quick update on the mailing-list
    • Linaro considering discontinuing the boot-architecture ML
      • Ilias: but could be kept if there is a good reason
      • Is EBBR sufficient?
    • No equivalent at Arm
    • CoreCollective investigating public mailing-lists
    • Heinrich: use Google Groups?
    • Ilias asked for 3 months delay
  • Ilias likes the pull requests, too
  • Heinrich: EDK II commit with EFI_DT_FIXUP_PROTOCOL
