After setting up the Base snapshot for the Windows Server VM, I made the mistake of not giving the Administrator account a password again (ctrl+shift+F3), launching the System Preparation Tool again. I went through with setting up the network configurations and installing Active Directory, and when the AD installation prompted me to reboot, I was stuck in a boot loop due to a Windows Installation error. Luckily I hadn't gotten far so I restored the Base snapshot and realized my error was not setting an Administrator password.
When installing Active Directory through Powershell, it only installs the Powershell module for AD. I was stuck for a bit on how to add users to the "Domain Admins" group through Powershell, but I managed to get it after a bit of trial and error and running Powershell as Administrator. I later learned that I could install the GUI module for Active Directory by:
Opening Server Manager
Clicking Manage and selecting Add Roles and Features
Choose the default options until Features
Navigate to Remote Server Administration Tools, Role Administration Tools, AD DS and AD LDS Tools, and check AD DS Tools
