Webtoons
The webtoon format - long vertical strips designed to be read by scrolling - poses a problem on E-Ink screens. Scrolling through anything - especially color graphics - isn't easy on the eyes.
To workaround this problem, Inksetter can, within *-webtoon profiles, very aggressively rearrange the panel flow into a format better suited for reading page by page.
This approach has several significant limitations:
-
OPDS-PSE does not work in
webtoonprofiles. -
CBZ processing time is high and often significantly increases the size of the output file. It is especially not recommended to use OPDS directly on the target e-reader - download the CBZ using the Inksetter web interface or desktop OPDS client, then manually transfer it to the e-reader using other methods.
-
If the resulting file exceeds 4GB, there is a non-zero chance that the e-reader will not be able to open it.
-
The panel reflow is so aggressive that it may distort the author’s original vision.
Please also keep in mind the limitations of Kaleido 3 screens. They offer only half the resolution of a black-and-white layer, and despite the optimizations implemented in Inksetter, colors will appear significantly muted compared to LCD screens.
Additionally, when using KOReader, the configuration rules that apply to reading “regular” content also apply. The resulting files should not be read in Continuous mode.
