TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.16
Key figures
- The Key figures switch is now an icon at the end of the page header, named in its tooltip and filled while the panel shows
- Below the page, the panel is compact: a slim title line over a grid of figures, This week and This month first with their bars
- Arrange the figures (show, hide, reorder, reset) from the panel's ⋯ menu, in the same dialog tables use for their columns
- Every page keeps the same 16 px margin on the left, the right and the bottom, also under a panel docked at the bottom
Closing forms
- Forms can now close by sliding down instead of zooming out. After Save (or Accept, Decline and the like) a faint check mark shows; Cancel, Escape or a tap outside slide down without it
- Zoom out stays the default. An administrator chooses for everyone in App Settings > Forms > Closing a form, and each person can choose their own in User Settings > Forms
- With reduced motion switched on in Windows or Android, forms close without animation and without the check mark
Tables and pages
- Tables take one of three boxes: the full width, half of a 1:1 split or part of a 3:5 split; a list narrower than its box scrolls sideways inside it, and on a phone the parts stack
- On Scan, the timeline and its session list share the page 5:3, so long titles fit; below 1100 px they stack
Coming next
- A connector for Claude's directory and reading Outlook and Teams from the desktop apps when IT does not approve an app are planned; this release contains the plans, not the features yet
TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.15
These notes also cover alpha.14, which came without its own.
Key figures beside the page
- A Key figures panel keeps the figures from Reports in view while you record time: the hours against your target with how far ahead or behind you are, today, the billable share, the entries needing attention, your flex balance, this month and the hours by project
- It sits on the right of a wide window and below the page on a narrower one; drag its handle, or use its ⋯ menu, to move it, and switch each figure on or off there
- Its period follows the page you are on; in Work Calendars you can keep it on this week instead
- Choose the pages that show it in User Settings; Time entries and Tracking show it by default, the phone never does
- Whether it sits on the right or below the page is your choice in User Settings, and its handle and ⋯ menu change the same setting; below a long list it leaves room, so you can still scroll to the last row
Time entries are checked as you record them
- Each work calendar names the working-time law it follows: Swiss (the default), German or none. Breaks, the longest stretch without a break, the hours per day and the span of the day are checked against it
- Your organisation can add hints, such as an entry over 8 hours, a day over 10 hours or a work entry without a work location; administrators set them in App Settings > Forms > Entry checks
- The entry dialog shows what it finds before you save
- Time entries has a Checks column and a "Has issues" filter
- Submitting entries with a legal finding asks for a reason, which the audit trail keeps; your organisation can decide that such entries can't be submitted
- Tasks lists the findings, with a "Check again" button
After a Teams or Zoom call (Windows)
- While tracking runs, a small window slides in at the bottom right after a call of 2 minutes or more and asks what it was for and how long it took, prefilled with the meeting from your calendar and the project your rules suggest
- It asks for the fields your organisation makes mandatory, such as project, activity and work location, before it saves the call as a draft entry, so nothing waits days to be completed
- Every call also shows on Tracking as a suggestion; Dismiss can be undone, and Close leaves the call there for later
- Tracking settings has the switch "After a call, ask what it was for" and "Show an example". This is new: tell us when it misses a call or asks at the wrong time
Lists and tables
- Wide lists scroll sideways while the check box, the row's actions and the columns you freeze stay at the left; Freeze column is in each column's menu
- Adjust view, the sliders in a table's top-right corner, holds its columns, sort and filter and the page's view options, in place of the View buttons; Planning has the same icon in its grid's corner
- A double-click (a long press on touch) opens or edits a row in every list, as the pencil does; it never submits, approves or deletes
- A column heading that is cut off shows in full when you point at it
- One unbroken line sets every table's header off from its rows, and a column you move travels as a see-through copy of the whole column
- On the phone every list shows as cards, with sort and filter in Adjust view
- Trip types, Means of travel, Tags and Entry details are tables you edit in place: the pencil or a double-click turns a row into fields, Enter saves, Escape cancels, and you can select rows to activate, deactivate or delete them
- New adds its row at the top of a table you edit in place; User Settings > General lets you put it at the bottom instead, the same in every such table. In a new row, Enter saves and opens the next one
- A means of travel folds open to its rates, and a work calendar to its week, beneath its row
- Rows that fold open with the arrow in front of them are indented under it, on Tracking under their day and in a budget's bookings under their month
- On Tracking, German statuses show in full, and the keyboard keeps its place after you dismiss, delete or show a suggestion again
Calendars and Planning
- On the week grid and on Planning, entries move and resize by dragging, also to another day, in steps of 15 minutes, with the new time shown; Esc cancels and Undo puts them back
- A click selects a half-hour on the grid, and dragging selects a range that opens the new entry when you let go
- The Calendar switch on the week grid no longer draws an empty lane: without a connected calendar it offers to connect one
- Planning's header works like the other pages: Week, Day and WBS as icons, Today and the arrows with the range on the left, Import from calendars and New planned entry on the right
Reports
- Stacked charts show each segment's hours inside the segment and the day's total above the column; the tooltip closes with the total
Buttons, dialogs and the menu
- In the Default and Windows styles the main button comes first in every group of buttons, on pages and in dialogs
- A dialog with changes asks "Discard changes?" before Cancel, Escape, a click outside or a swipe throws them away
- On a phone, sheets close with a swipe down, and every group of buttons stays in one row, the secondary action at the left and the main action at the right, so two buttons are never stacked
- On a phone, the floating + slides out of the way while a row of buttons reaches the bottom of the screen, and comes back when it leaves
- When a page lists its sections in the menu, they hang from a thin line under the page's icon, with the current section marked on it
- On a phone, opening a long setting no longer makes the cards jump narrower: touch screens keep their own scroll bars
- In Integrations and in Version and updates, each group (Odoo, Outlook, About and the others) is a row of its section instead of a card inside it, opens with its arrow and keeps its explanation behind its (i); where a setting's card is narrow, its value or status sits under its description, so the description is no longer cut off
Settings
- Groups inside a settings section, such as each integration in User Settings, are rows of the section that open in place, on every width; About in Version and updates keeps the app's icon
- On a narrow window, a setting's value or status moves under its description instead of squeezing it
Outlook and Teams
- Connecting Outlook and Teams is moving to TIMEperative's own Microsoft sign-in, so you won't need to register an app yourself. Until it is available, Connect says why it is unavailable, and "Advanced: use your own app registration" still works
- After you connect, you choose which calendars to import; imports read every selected calendar in full and count an event that is in two calendars once

TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.14
TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.13
The menu
- The menu on the left can collapse to a slim bar of icons, with the button at its top or with Ctrl+; the app remembers your choice, and on narrower windows it starts as the slim bar by itself
- The current page is marked with a subtle highlight and a short coloured bar instead of a solid block
- Your name sits beside your picture at the bottom of the menu; click it to open your user record, the settings, or Version & updates
- Version & updates has moved to the end of App Settings and now looks like Windows Update: one status, when the app last checked, and one clear action
- The German version now says "Du" throughout
Looks and every page
- The Windows style now looks like Windows 11 Settings: a calmer menu, a raised page, rounded grey check boxes, slim drop-down arrows and a search box with the magnifier on the right
- Check boxes are a little larger in every style
- Every page has the same header, and each page is called what the menu calls it
- Settings sections are cards with an icon, a short description and their current value
- The audit trail shows date and time on one line, and long changes show in full on hover or keyboard focus
Times, dates and numbers
- Times, dates and numbers follow your Windows or Android regional format, so a 24-hour format no longer shows AM/PM
- In User Settings > General you can choose your own time, date and number format; administrators can set the default in App Settings
- Date and time fields accept quick typing such as 930, 9.30 or 9pm, say clearly when a date can't be used, and the calendar starts on your first day of the week, in your language
- Dates can be typed without separators in your format's order: 812 is 8 December, 801 is 8 January, 80127 is 8 January 2027, and t is today
- Start and end times: type them (810 is 08:10, 2010 is 20:10), or click the clock or press Alt+Down to pick hour and minutes in columns; an empty end opens just after the start
- Each work calendar has a time step (1, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, 5 by default) for the minutes you can pick
- Weeks start on the first day of the week your Windows or Android regional format sets; User Settings > General lets you choose another day, and "Reset to system settings" puts time, date, number and week back on the system
- Entries made on the days the clocks change, and timers started just after midnight, now land on the right time and day
Time entries
- A new entry starts where your last one that day ended and keeps the same work location; "Save and new" lets you enter a series quickly, and a start with a duration keeps its times
- Work locations are a list you pick from instead of free text; administrators can add the address, country and coordinates, and merge duplicates such as "Home office" and "home office"
- The entry dialog shows your earlier descriptions for the same project and activity, with a "Use" button, and warns when times overlap
- Tags are calmer: pick them from a list, and they show as neutral chips with a small colour dot
Lists and tables
- Every list is a table you can sort by clicking a column heading (again for the other direction), filter and sort from the small arrow beside it, and rearrange by dragging columns; the app remembers your layout
- Rows with details fold open: Tracking shows each day with its suggestions, and what was added or dismissed, beneath it
- Deleting from a row asks first, and empty cells stay empty instead of showing a dash
Tracking
- Recorded time stays exact: suggestions count your day in blocks of 15 minutes (or 5 to 60), each block once, for what you did most in it, so a day can never add up to more than the day
- Each suggestion shows its window and page titles, how long you were active and which blocks it would book; expand it to see every session in order, or hide titles while you share your screen
- The actions sit in front of each row, as on Time entries; tick several rows to accept, dismiss or delete them together
- Dismiss hides a suggestion and can be undone, and dismissed suggestions can be shown again; Delete removes the time for good, after asking, and it is not imported again
- Timeline: see your day on an hour axis, app by app, select a stretch and create an entry from it
- "How tracking works" explains what Tracking records, what it never reads, how blocks and rules work, and how to review
- Rules are a list you can switch on and off, edit, reorder and delete, with a two-step wizard that shows what a rule would catch
- "Import past days" on the Tracking page brings in the time the PC was in use from the Windows log, your browser history and connected calendars for up to 30 days in one step (on Android, app usage for up to 7 days); it replaces the separate "Fill gaps from Windows" button
- Fixed: re-imports no longer bring back dismissed suggestions or add copies of accepted ones, work after midnight counts on the new day, and restoring a deleted entry takes its tracked time back
TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.12
TIMEperative
- The sidebar and the phone's top bar show TIMEperative now too; in alpha.11 they still showed the old name.
Also new
- Tracking on Windows: "Fill gaps from Windows" finds the time the PC was in use while the tracker was not running, from the Windows log, and offers it as "PC in use" blocks. You choose how many days it checks and whether it checks once a day by itself
- Tracking on Windows: the app offers to start with Windows, so the tracker runs from sign-in; the welcome wizard asks too
- Time entries: the actions are now icons right after the checkbox, so they no longer scroll out of view: edit, submit and delete. Submit asks before it locks the entry
- Time entries: the checkboxes follow your theme, and the filters keep their width while you tick options
- Phone: ticks in multi-select lists are visible again
- The colour scheme button is an icon next to your picture
TIMEperative v0.1.0-alpha.11
TIMEperative
- The app is now called TIMEperative. Because nothing is more precious than your time.
- The new name shows throughout the app: the window title, the tray, notifications, the welcome screens and the settings. On Android, the home screen and the app list show it too.
- Updates and downloads now come from the TIMEperative download page, github.com/Acunomic/timeperative. This version moves your app there by itself; there is nothing to do.
- On Windows, the Start menu entry and the list of installed apps keep the old name for now.
Also new since alpha.9
- One period switch on every page: Today, This week and This month sit at the right, under the title, in Time entries, Tracking, Billing, Reports and Tasks
- Project Administration: every section has the same bar, with filters and help on the left and "New ..." on the right
- Pages with sections show collapsible panels on every screen size, with a switch to tabs next to the title
- Time entries: List, Week and Calendar are icons in your theme's style, the display menu is a labelled View button, and the filters are compact and take several choices at once
- Planning: the time slot you chose stays marked while the new entry's form is open
- Tracking: rows keep fixed columns, so Accept and Dismiss line up; on the phone, Dismiss is an icon
- Phone: the bottom menu shows the selection in the brand colour, and the + button sits on the menu's edge
- Breaks: the break switch shows pause and play icons, and the phone's timer strip uses your own break labels
- Odoo styles: selected tabs are neutral, as in Odoo 20
- On short windows, the sidebar scrolls instead of squeezing its items
