v1.3.4
Fixed
- Tasks that hit the tool-calling round limit now fail instead of showing as completed.
- Failed tasks keep their partial execution plan so debugging remains visible in the Crew Board.
- Local greenfield prompts are less likely to drift into MCP-first execution because the external-access heuristic is narrower.

v1.3.3
[1.3.3] — 2026-04-23
Fixed
- Faster direct dispatch: Explicit lane-targeted prompts such as
/frontend ...,backend: ..., andassign to tester ...now bypass the planner and route straight to the intended lane. - Lower execution overhead for simple work: Straightforward workspace-only edit tasks now skip the heavier tool loop and default mailbox turn budget, so obvious single-agent file changes start and settle faster.
Added
- Board-side dispatch controls: The mission board can now dispatch new work directly, send follow-up prompts to the selected lane, and trigger queue actions without forcing every intervention back through chat first.
Changed
- Cleaner factory default: The factory view now auto-focuses the live lane, hides the heavy inspector by default, and only surfaces actual review, failed, or waiting work in the attention queue.
- Tighter solo-task watchdogs: Single-turn local runs now use a shorter timeout, while collaborative and MCP-first tasks keep the broader execution budget.

v1.3.2
[1.3.2] — 2026-04-23
Fixed
- Faster coordination flow: Coordination-only prompts such as task assignment, routing, and handoff requests now bypass the heavy tool-calling execution loop, which makes inter-agent assignment materially faster and avoids wasting turns on simple orchestration work.
- Prompt bloat control: Continuation details, handoff packets, and attention-queue previews are now compacted so follow-up tasks stop recursively carrying oversized context blobs through the run.
Added
- Exact model pinning: Added
pixelSquad.copilotModelIdandpixelSquad.claudeModelIdso you can pin a specific model instead of relying only on provider-family heuristics.
Changed
- Lower token overhead: Session logs, handoff summaries, inbox messages, and prompt serialization now clip and cap payload size to reduce token consumption during agent-to-agent calls.
- Tighter execution bounds: Reduced the maximum tool-calling rounds from 12 to 8 so confused runs fail faster instead of burning extra time and tokens.

v1.3.1
[1.3.1] — 2026-04-23
Fixed
- Task split routing for plan-driven requests: Prompts that ask Pixel Crew to create a plan and then spawn frontend, backend, or tester work no longer collapse into a single lead-only planning task. The deterministic planner now recognizes split-assignment intent and spaced lane names like
front endandback end.
Changed
- Release metadata sync: Refreshed package metadata and top-level docs so the shipped release better matches the current extension defaults and release line.

v1.3.0
[1.3.0] — 2026-04-20
Added
- Hybrid Copilot runtime: Copilot-backed agents now default to
sdk-hybridmode via the newpixelSquad.copilotRuntimesetting. In this mode, Pixel Crew keeps ownership of runs, sessions, handoffs, journals, and UI state while routing Copilot planning and JSON-fallback execution through the GitHub Copilot SDK. - Graceful SDK fallback: The Copilot adapter now attempts the SDK first in hybrid mode, then falls back to VS Code
vscode.lmautomatically if the SDK or CLI path is unavailable. Tool-driven execution still stays on the existing VS Code LM path so workspace tools and current orchestration semantics remain stable.
Changed
- Copilot SDK dependency: Added
@github/copilot-sdkto the extension runtime so hybrid mode is available without external code changes.
Notes
- Validation:
npm run build, npm run package:vsix, and GitHub release publishing should pass for1.3.0.

v1.2.0
v1.1.2 - Manifest hardening and Pixel Crew command alignment
Fixed
- Marked the extension as a workspace extension and added an explicit chat-participant activation hook so the installed VSIX is less likely to appear present-but-inactive.
- Renamed the side container, command titles, settings title, walkthrough text, and orchestrator full name to Pixel Crew while keeping the internal pixelSquad.* command ids and @Pixel-Squad chat handle stable for compatibility.
- Updated the root package-lock.json version to match the shipped extension version.
Validation
- npm run typecheck
- npm run build
- npm run package:vsix

v1.1.1 - Room Chat and File Timeline
See teammates coordinate and exactly what each one touched.
Added
- Room Chat feed in the inspector Channel tab: live per-room view of inter-agent messages (who said what to whom).
- File Timeline per agent in the Work tab: every file each teammate created, edited, or deleted, with the originating task.
- AgentMailbox keeps the last 200 messages per room so squad chatter replays across reloads.
Validation
- npm run typecheck - pass
- npm run build - pass
- npm run package:vsix - pass

- /worklog [agent or team] - rollup of tasks done, files touched, commands run, straight from chat.
- Per-agent Work Log chips in the inspector Work tab.
Changed
- Marketplace tagline rebrand: Pixel Crew - Your Dev Teammates (Pixel Squad Flow). Extension id unchanged, existing installs upgrade in place.
- Chat followups now surface /worklog, /ask, /team alongside /status and /mcp.
Validation
- npm run typecheck - pass
- npm run build - pass

- Blue prototype theme: retuned the shell palette to the prototype's deep blue with cyan accents.
- Files actually land on the workspace:
pixelSquad.autoExecutenow defaults totrueso produced edits are applied automatically. - Faster coordination: capped mailbox loop to 2 turns, execution timeout 45s, plan timeout 20s.
Validation
- npm run typecheck
- npm run build
- npm run package:vsix
