Alchemist Coder 1.3: Autopilot, and a browser your agents drive while you watch.

New

  • Autopilot. One switch in the title bar (also in Settings › General and the app menu) and your agents stop waiting for you.
    • Permissions are allowed once, except what can't be undone: sudo, force-pushes, publishing (npm, cargo, gh release, store uploads, docker push) and wiping a disk are always refused. It's a safety net, not a sandbox.
    • Questions go back to the agent to decide, and plans and the automations' human steps are approved for you.
    • Your computer stays awake while agents work.
  • A coordinator that decides everything and learns from its mistakes. The Coordinator's section of the Organization has its own switch, "Decides everything": the same Autopilot for the organization's runs only. A coordinator that ends its turn asking you is told to decide and carry on.
    • After a mistake (an agent failed, a build broke, you corrected the plan) it saves one short lesson, and every later prompt of the organization carries the latest 30. You can forget any of them from the same card.
    • The switch says On or Off in words, and the title bar shows a plane while the organization decides alone, in every theme.
  • A browser inside the app that agents drive and you watch. The globe in the title bar opens it next to the conversation.
    • Every agent gets browser tools: open a page, read it, click, type, press keys, scroll, go back and take a screenshot.
    • The pane says which agent is driving. "Take over" makes the agent wait until you hand it back.
    • Its cookies are kept apart from the app's, and it only loads web pages.
  • Attach any kind of file to a message. Drop, paste or pick PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations, archives, audio, video or code. Agents get each file to open with their own tools, and agents that can't see images get them as files instead of losing them.
  • Assignments start from The Alchemist Code's template. The smallest team that gets the work done and proven: a plan that says what it delivers and how it's checked, a Programmer working in small steps, a Tester and a Reviewer, the UI Judge for visible changes, and nothing published, pushed or paid for without asking. "Use by default" makes any template (or none) the one the box starts with.

Fixed

  • "Needs you" in the title bar goes to the exact place you answer (the conversation's main tab, the Arena, Marketing, a plan or an automation) and visits every waiting item in turn. Its tooltip says where the next press goes.
  • Themes whose accent blends into the background (Shades of Purple, for one) no longer hide switches, pills and icons: the app picks the theme's next accent that stays readable.
  • Dialogs and notices never open under the browser's page.

Download

  • macOS: -arm64.dmg (Apple Silicon) or -x64.dmg (Intel). It isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time macOS says it can't verify the app. Click Done, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.
  • Windows: -setup.exe. If SmartScreen warns you, choose More info → Run anyway.
  • Linux: -x86_64.AppImage (make it executable; no extra packages needed) or -amd64.deb (sudo apt install ./Alchemist-Coder-1.3.0-amd64.deb).
