Steam Deck update, tested on a real Steam Deck OLED. Install or update through Decky as before: download continue-deck-0.1.4.zip together with its .sha256.

What's new

  • Theme music plays as exactly one track: no overlapping or doubled audio.
  • Music pauses when a game starts or the Deck goes to sleep, and resumes when you come back.
  • Volume and No music in Quick Access apply instantly to the track that is already playing.
  • Battery care: the first music setup asks for a charger at 30% or below.
  • Revoking media consent stops active downloads immediately and removes temporary files.
  • Fact icons and portraits restored for NieR:Automata, Horizon Forbidden West and Alan Wake.
  • Clear theme statuses: when YouTube temporarily rejects a request, the plugin says so — just retry later.
  • More reliable media helper under Decky.

Known limits: YouTube can temporarily reject requests from home IP addresses — retry later. The Windows / Big Picture package is not part of this release; it will ship separately.

Security and reliability update from a full audit (24 findings fixed, regression tests added).

  • Developer report: Bearer/Basic tokens, SD-card labels, UNC paths, private IPs, SteamID3 and short/odd persona names are now redacted; Steam profile is found correctly when Decky runs as root.
  • Update check: only official GitHub release URLs are accepted, rate-limit/failed checks back off instead of hammering the API, incomplete checksums are never cached.
  • Corrupt saves can no longer hang the backend (bounded save parsing, size limit, no symlinks).
  • Battery: timers pause while a game runs.
  • Fixes: stale HLTB hours from the previous game, YouTube setup locked for a week after one network error, duplicate JSX hooks, background recording queue (latest game wins), atomic cache writes.
  • Defaults for new installs are less intrusive: Steam Home keeps its news/friends block, the controller-layout notice is not hidden; both are switches in the menu.
  • Music: Continue? plays its own theme music unless Game Theme Music is active (setting: auto/theme/continue).

Public alpha for Steam Deck (Decky). Install: Decky -> Settings -> Developer -> install from ZIP/URL, see docs/install-deck.md.

Checked on a real Steam Deck OLED: install from URL with SHA-256, game pages and facts for 8 installed games, EN/UK/RU card text, update 0.1.0 -> 0.1.1 through Decky, sanitized developer report (no SteamID/persona/paths).
Known: after an update Decky may leave its progress dialog open and not list the new version until the Steam client/Decky restarts. Windows / Big Picture package is not released yet (needs a clean-PC acceptance run).
