Getting Started

This guide walks you through installing, running, and using TransportChat on your LAN.

Install & Run

1. Open the project in Android Studio and click Run.
2. On Android 13+, grant the Notifications permission.
3. Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot.

First Use

• Open the app on both devices — peers should appear automatically under Peers.
• Tap a peer to open a chat and start messaging.
• Use Manual Connect to enter a Host/IP and Port if discovery is blocked by the network.

What You’ll See

• Peers: list of LAN peers, with an unread count badge if there are unseen messages.
• Chat: message bubbles, delivery/read status, attach files, and a per-chat menu for Clear chat and Block/Unblock.

If a network blocks multicast discovery, peers may not show; use Manual Connect or switch to a different network.
