In April 2012 CD Projekt RED released an Xbox 360 port, followed later that year by an Apple port. In October 2012 the company was able to proudly announce that total sales of The Witcher 2 had exceeded 2 million copies - nearly twice the number attained by its predecessor during the first six quarters following release.

CDPRED, the first of the companies which today belong to the CD PROJEKT Group, was founded in 1994 by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński. The company, originally named CD Projekt, focused on publishing software on CDs imported from the United States as an authorized distributor of American Laser Games.

In 1996 CDP.pl (then known as CD Projekt) became the first Polish company to release games with Polish manuals and in localized Polish boxes.
