Release list
v4.3.3
v4.3.2
- Shelves show covers by default again: the automatic switch to a list when expanded or inside folders is now an explicit choice (Auto in the Shelf style dialog), not something you were opted into
- Search results also default to covers, with their own view control: long-press the Search results pill to pick Covers, List or Auto, or hold the page number to flip between covers and list
- When a list line with %spacer runs out of room, the right-hand side is dropped instead of shrinking to a lone "…" (#345)
v4.3.1
- Statistics tokens (%book_read_time, %book_pages_read and friends) now work in list view lines, not just the hero card
- Fixed a crash when the reader rebuilds the document under the shelf, most easily triggered by "Reset document settings" (thanks for the Reddit report)
v4.3.0
List view
- Any shelf can be a text list instead of covers: long-press its chip and pick List, or hold the page number in the footer to flip the shelf you are on
- Rows are built from the same editable lines as the hero card - up to six per row, each with its own template, font, size, weight, slant, case and alignment
- Each shelf picks its own rows (1 to 12) and columns (1 to 3); pinching the shelf fits one more or one fewer row
- Progress bars can sit inside a line, fixed width or sized to how long the book is
- Folders, series and collections draw as a fan of their members' covers
- Layouts live in Bookshelf's own settings file on disk, with the groundwork laid for saveable layout presets in a future release
- Swiping up to expand a shelf can switch it to a list automatically (a setting)
- New tokens to put in lines: %size, %added, %opened, %favourite and %status_label
Status line
- %books_read counts the books in your library marked Finished, and %books_started counts those with reading time recorded by the statistics plugin - both work anywhere tokens do, like the hero status line
Calibre metadata (beta)
- A calibre custom series column gives a book a second series stack, so one book can sit in more than one series (#299)
- %calibre{name} shows any calibre column in a line: %calibre{pubdate} for the publication year, %calibre{publisher}, or a custom column by its lookup name
- Custom columns and author sort no longer vanish after a wireless calibre sync: Bookshelf keeps its own copy of the fields KOReader's sync drops, saved automatically whenever it reads a calibre-written metadata file
Fixes
- Book details: swipe down closes the popup, Close and Open swapped places, and descriptions no longer open with a stray blank line (#338)
- The bulk "Best guess" Hardcover link searches the way the manual picker does, so it finds the matches the picker finds (#310, with thanks to bmanturner's #311)
Languages
v4.2.2
- "Exit" inside a book now exits KOReader rather than returning you to the shelf (#302) - to reach your shelf from a book, use the file browser button in the reader's top menu
- The selection frame follows the cover you tap after touching the hero (#335)
- Books downloaded from a catalogue are named "Author - Title" like KOReader's own catalogue browser, so the same book no longer arrives twice under two names (#336)
v4.2.1
v4.2.0
Folder styles
- Series, authors, folders and collections can be drawn six ways: Divider card, Ribbon, Book stack, Collage, Text or None
- Set one for the whole library under Settings > Cover display > Default folder style, or give a single shelf its own by long-pressing its chip
- The picker stays open while you try styles and the shelf redraws behind it, so you can compare them
- Collage shows up to four of the group's covers; with two or three, the gap is filled with a wash drawn from the covers' own colours
OPDS catalogues
- Covers load automatically for the page you are on, a few at a time, rather than only for the books you tap
- They are fetched off the main loop, so paging and drilling into categories stay responsive while they arrive
- Listings are kept in a database on the device, so going back into a catalogue is instant instead of fetching it again, and a catalogue you have already opened can still be browsed with no connection (downloading and search still need one)
- The last-page chevron walks a category to its end and lands you on the last page with books on it - it counts as it goes, and a tap stops it and keeps everything already loaded
- Restarting inside a category returns you to it, on the page you left
- Each catalogue has its own settings: where its downloads are saved, and whether it refreshes on its own or only when you swipe down
Fixes
- A chip's filter follows it into subfolders (#323)
- "Go to letter" searches the folder you are in rather than the one above it (#307)
- Swiping the hero card steps through the page instead of jumping to its ends (#325)
- With true cover aspect ratio on, the shelf fits four rows again at the default cover size (#329)
- Pressing down on a d-pad reaches the footer from a part-full shelf
v4.1.1
v4.1.0
New
- Select all books in a shelf, from the bulk menu or a gesture - the way to select a chip built from filters, which has no folder to long-press (#320)
- Each catalogue chip can choose where its downloads are saved: long-press the chip and use Saves to (#319)
- Catalogue downloads now cover every format KOReader can open, including AZW3, CBZ and CBR
- Uppercase labels toggle for chip labels, under Bookshelf chips
Fixes
- "Check for updates" now always checks for a release. It could previously install a configured development branch instead, if one had ever been set
