pEdit 0.2.13
0.2.13
- 3D Baking: the preview is lit by an environment (Studio, Daylight, Sunset, Overcast, Night or your own .hdr), with roughness and metal.
- 3D Baking: the 3D view turns the way you drag, pans with right- or ⇧-drag, zooms toward the pointer and focuses on a double-clicked point.
- 3D Baking: see the cage over the high poly and push or pull it where the high poly sticks out (orange), check for misses, or load your own cage.
- Fixed: cancelling a bake could leave the 3D Baking tab stuck.
- Help → Check for Updates Automatically lets you turn off the automatic update checks.
- Help → Open-Source Licenses lists the open-source software pEdit is built with.
- The Monokai theme is now called Vivid.
0.2.12
- Shift-click or ⌘-click layers in the Layers panel to pick several, then group them with ⌘G, move them, drag them or delete them together. ⌥⌘A picks all layers.
- Fixed: hiding, deleting or undoing a layer with effects could leave its shadow or glow behind on big images.
0.2.11
- 3D Baking: one FBX or OBJ with objects named …_low and …_high loads as both models.
- 3D Baking measures how far the rays need to reach, so detail that stands out from the low poly bakes without changing settings.
- OBJ files with vertex colours (ZBrush polypaint) bake their colours too.
- New: 3D Baking. Load a low-poly and a high-poly model (FBX or OBJ) and bake normal, ambient occlusion, curvature, height and more onto the low poly's UVs (Texture → 3D Baking…).
- The high poly's vertex colours and textures can be baked onto the low poly too.
- Windows: the installer now shows the pEdit logo.
- Windows: the start screen shows only New and Open (and your recent files), without the menu bar.
- Big images are much faster: painting, moving, zooming, undo and opacity changes stay smooth on 4096 × 4096 documents.
- Gaussian Blur and Sharpen are about five times faster.
0.2.10
- pEdit for Windows: a small installer for Windows 10 and 11 that keeps pEdit up to date, with shortcuts shown as Ctrl+… and a menu bar in the window.
- The window's title bar follows pEdit's light or dark theme.
- New from Print Template: CD jewel case (with booklet, back inlay and spines), slim CD, DVD, slim DVD, Blu-ray, digipak, card sleeve and disc label, all parts on one canvas with bleed, cut and fold guides.
- Export Print Parts saves each part of a CD or DVD case as its own file for the printer.
0.2.9
- Open and export DDS game textures: BC7, BC3 (DXT5), BC1 (DXT1), BC5, BC4 or uncompressed, with mipmaps.
- The status bar shows the texture budget: GPU memory with mipmaps, and a warning when the size isn't a power of two.
- Layer effects (⇧⌘F): outlines, glows, shadows, overlays, bevels and long shadows that stay editable, with a preset gallery you can try by hovering, and your own presets.
- New adjustment layers come with a mask, made from the selection if there is one.
- ⌘F Find knows about selections, masks, groups, clone and heal, channels and the modding tools.
- Sprite sheets: slice a sheet into sprites, pack layers into a sheet, export PNG + JSON for game engines.
- UV Layout: load a 3D model (.obj) to see where to paint, and preview the texture on it in 3D.
- Minecraft: skin guide, 3D skin preview, animated textures and one-click resource packs.
- Break Up Tiling: make a bigger texture without visible repeats that still tiles.
- Lasso and Magic Wand selections — Shift adds, ⌥ subtracts — and Select Inverse.
- Layer masks: paint black to hide parts of a layer, white to bring them back.
- Adjustment layers: levels, hue/saturation and more that change the layers below without touching their pixels.
- Channels: view and paint a single colour channel or the alpha (⌘3–⌘6); Pack Channels makes ORM and mask maps for game engines.
- Clone & Heal brush (S): ⌥-click a source, paint over spots and seams.
- Layer groups (⌘G): fold, hide and move several layers together.
- Fixed: typing text or a Free Transform in progress now counts as unsaved — quitting or closing asks first.
- Quitting from the Dock, the app switcher or a logout now asks about unsaved changes too.
- Fixed: ⌘ shortcuts while typing in a field (like ⌘⌫ or ⌃E) edit the text instead of the image.
- Dialogs stay open when something needs fixing (like an image that's too large) instead of closing silently.
- The macOS menu now shows check marks and greys out what can't be used right now.
- Fixed: smaller focus and menu glitches — styling text, renaming layers, closing menus, Before/After and saving palettes or themes.
- Fixed: brush strokes and fills could land in the wrong place (and not undo) after flipping, rotating or merging layers.
- Fixed: Apply Edits to Other Images now applies filters to the image even when a text step came first.
0.2.8
- Apply Edits to Other Images: redo what you did to this image on as many others as you like — no recording needed.
- Export Timelapse: replay how your image was made as a video or GIF.
- Projects remember their undo history — open one tomorrow and still undo.
- Extract a colour palette from any image — paint with it, keep it in the colour picker, or save it for GIMP, Krita, Aseprite or Adobe apps.
- Compare Before/After (Y): drag a divider to see the original next to your edit.
- Pixel art: Perfect lines removes doubled corner pixels from 1 px strokes.
- New 3D Preview (P): see your texture as a live material on a sphere, cube, cylinder, torus or tile — then Export Material for the full PBR set.
- New Seam Check (⇧W) shows where a texture won't tile, with a score — and Fix Seams evens out the light and blends the edges.
0.2.7
- A cleaner start: just New Image, Open and your recent projects — the tools appear once an image is open.
0.2.6
- Export to TIFF, BMP and ICO (icons) as well as PNG, JPEG and TGA.
- Choose compression when exporting: PNG colour count and "smallest file", JPEG quality, TIFF Deflate, TGA RLE — with the file size shown before you save.
- Changing the colour of text and shapes works again, with a new colour picker (recent colours, hex codes, quick swatches).
- Text stays editable: painting goes on a new layer, the Paint Bucket recolours text, and anything that would turn it into pixels asks first.
- Change a text's colour, font or size while you type it, without leaving the text.
0.2.5
- The editor now always fills the whole window, windowed and in fullscreen.
0.2.4
- Help → Show Diagnostics shows window and layout sizes (to help track down display problems)
0.2.3
- Fixed: pEdit now always fills its window — maximised, resized or fullscreen
0.2.2
- Help → What's New shows the changelog any time, and pEdit shows what changed the first time you open a new version

0.2.6
